Best buy is having some great deals right now.

I believe you can get a large Sony LCD TV with a PS3 for around $1400 and a Samsung LCD around 52" with a blu-ray for around $1100.

My son bought a 50" LG Plasma TV for $689 at HH Gregg. It is 720 but the pic is flat out awesome and I have a 51" Toshiba LCD that is 1080i. There is not a lick of difference in the pics. There is a lot of great deals out there right now. Good luck.

Walmart always has nice deals, decide if you want 720P or 1080P is the big thing and big price difference.

I have had a Panasonic plasma television for a couple of years now. It is only 720 dpi, but has a fantastic picture.

Highly recommended!

If you don't watch Blueray movies or anything the 1080 wont show up much much different from the 720 when watching basic HD channels. That really should be your deciding factor.

I have a 52" Panasonic Viera. I believe it's #10 on the list in the link above. When I bought it in 2008, it was in the top 5 of most lists. I bought it at HH Gregg. No-one could come close to their price at the time.

If you go to HH Gregg, go to all other places first and get their prices on the set you want. Then, try to get one of the younger, but not youngest, sales guys. Stand around and BS with him for a while, take your time looking at the sets, and let him give you some prices. I guarantee, if you continue to stand around and look and debate which set, they'll come back with a sweet price. I did this with 2 TVs there, and I've also done it with appliances. Everywhere else seems to stick with their stickered price, or matching some else's ad. HH Gregg has wiggle room in their prices. It's almost like going to a car dealership.

Thanks for the hint I am getting ready to buy many appliances when I move I will try it out.

We just got a Zenith 42" for $400 two weeks ago. I know this is smaller but it was our second TV and just fits in the bedroom. Looks pretty good and has a nice sound.

Also, if you're moving into a newly built house, you get everything in the store at builder's cost within the first 30 days after closing (I think it's 30 days). That is if you builder does business with them. It's a pretty good deal, but if you get the right salesman, you can even do better.

Considering nearly every station broadcasts in 720, 1080 won't show up at all.

BUT...if you are going to spend the money, you might as well get the 1080p for the future. 1080p will be all the make eventually, IMO. And the price difference isn't that much these days anyway.

It's funny you say that. I did the same thing with a 46'' LCD TV a little over 2 years ago.

I shopped prices online, then went to HH Gregg & Best Buy (in that order.) When I was at HH Gregg this younger guy was dying to sell us just about any TV there. He came way down on the price. I really liked every TV (obviously) but held off. I told him I was going to Best Buy because I wanted to check out what they had.

Turns out the model that I had basically decided upon was out of stock at Best Buy. As a result, they bumped the price down a little bit. It was a great deal, but it would have taken at least 3 weeks for me to get it.

So, I went back to HH Gregg. A new salesman came up to us and we told him what the other guy had offered the TV for. He seemed shocked & said we wouldn't find a price better than that. I showed him what I had printed off of the internet, which had Best Buy's price a little bit lower. We got that deal, plus some. It needed the manager's approval, and the manager was none too happy with the salesman who had offered it to us originally.

They said that I bought the TV for the same price as they did. I don't know if that is true or not, but I got a great deal too.

Is the one in Florence still open?

Yes, just got my TV and GPS unit from there about 3 months ago. I always go to HH Gregg first.
