They are a different team without Polly but 13 pts isn't much. I said at the start of the year that them skating by with no Oline was going to catch up with them and it has. They haven't been able to run the ball the last couple of years but more importantly they let Ben get beat to death. If they don't get some OLine in the off season they are really playing with fire with Ben's carrear IMO. His head has been pounded a good bit and Cleve had target practice with him again tonight.

The Pats lost Brady last year and proceeded to go 11-5. Troy is amazing, but there are a lot more things wrong with this team than just him being hurt. They've love five straight and three of those are the Chiefs, Raiders and Browns.

 

You hit the nail on the head. They have a lot of holes.

If you can only manage six points against the Browns, no way you deserve to win...

Let's face it. The Steeler's are awful. They're no longer physical (unless it's after the play), they have no O-line, Ben's been underachieving IMO probably partly due to the O-line stinking, then when Troy gets hurt they shut down as a whole. They're just a weak team. It might take a few more losses to prove it but they're no where close to what they used to be. People can blame it on Troy as much as they want but 6 points against the browns? Seriously? What does HE have to do with that?

This the classic snowball effect... It starts small and gets bigger every week.

 

OL has been alot better this year( except for tonight, bad proformance), than their Super Bowl run, but still no where near they need to be... I am hoping a Big ugly is available when we make our 1st round draft pick.

 

CB needs an improvement, William Gay has not been close to what McFadden was for the D. Ike has not had one of his better years

 

Getting Troy and Aaron Smith (our best DL), will improve the defense big time.

 

Willy will be gone and Mendy seems to be doing better.

 

I would love for Tomlin to fire Bruce Arians and replace him with someone who knows how to call plays.

 

Hampton, Reed, Colon are the 3 FA that they must make a decision on.

 

5 of their 7 losses were by 3 points and the other 2 were by 6, with a few offseason moves this team can be back competing for a title.

How bout a big night for the kid from Fairview, It was great to see a kid from eastern Ky making an impact running the ball in the NFL, I really think he might be the starter next season.

First, you can't lay all of this at the line of the STeelers. Granted, some of the sacks, and there were 8 BTW were squarely on Ben. Not to mention, he missed alot of throws when he had ample time. Gotta give the Browns alot of credit. Especially in coverage, top notch last night.

Secondly, it's hard to play defense when you donate huge return after huge return. Simply awful special teams the whole season long. Frig, awful would be an upgrade,,,,abysmal is more like it. Worst in league history.

Third, I hope that they make some changes in personnel. Some faces I doubt you'll see in P'burgh next season are : Casey Hampton, Willie Parker, Deshea Townsend, Jeff Reed and possibly Willie Colon. I hope and pray that they try to shore up the CB position. Gay can't play. Period. Not a Louisville thing here, he's just bad. They have enough time here to see what Burnett and Lewis the rookies give them out there and I'd be dang sure I had a good handle on how they match up. If I wasn't terribly happy, I'd be a player in the FA market if there happens to be one available.

 

And lastly, now that my favorite team has had the swirly, I hope that Indy and New Orleans make it to the SB both undefeated so that we can all be relieved of seeing those stupid '72? Dolphins celebrating. It's time that they fade into Bolivia, ala Mike Tyson.

I think he is a big help..but I mean Pitt O line has been bad this year.

 

It's no worse than last year.

 

Pitt had a healthy defense last year. This year they've missed some key players on that side. Their recipe for winning the Super Bowl last year was a suffocating defense, and a playmaking QB. Over the course of any given game, Ben could often make enough plays despite a shoddy o-line to get a W for the Steelers because the defense could stifle the opponent and drastically reduce the number of big plays required to win a game. With a banged up defense that's missing not only its best defensive back and player in Polamalu, but at least one more key player, DE Aaron Smith, combined with possibly the worst special teams in league history, Ben can't make enough plays to win games with no elite playmakers around him and a sub-par offensive line.

 

Give Pittsburgh a healthy defense like last year, and they're a playoff team. Maybe not a Super Bowl champion or as good as last year, but still a playoff team.

 

Its obvious that they're not even an average team at this point...a home loss to Oakland followed by a loss to Cleveland. Ugly.

I will say this...Mike Tomlin has made good on his promise.

 

Pittsburgh has certainly unleashed hell the last two weeks. Unfortunately, its been unleased on their own fan base instead of their opponents.

Big Ben and a healthy defense was good enough to cover up and compensate for those shortcomings last year. But, P'burgh had the same concerns on the offensive side of the ball last year...namely a below average offensive line.

 

I don't know why their kick coverage has been so abysmal though. That one is a mystery. Unless its part of the Super Bowl hangover...guys feel like they're above playing on Special Teams after winning a Super Bowl or something? :idunno:

I'm really tired of hearing about Pitt's defense. What is really shocking to me is that they could not score more than 6 points on CLEVELAND.
