It's a sad way to do business, but I think its the reality of the college game. It happens all the time. It's a business at the end of the day. I don't agree with a coach lying, but it's not much different from a school or organization acting like they haven't already decided to fire a coach. Weis, IMO was gone after Navy and UCONN, but they pretended like they were going to evaluate him after the season. It's a sad sports world we live in IMO.

Starting to remind me of the Petrino situation at UofL. Such a hot name, and so many rumors... who knows what to believe.

He is speaking at a UC banquet tomorrow night I believe. I think we hear of something publically from him before then.

What if he did speak with ND and lie about it? He was preparing for a huge game and didn't want the focus to be on that situation. The way of the world with big time ahtletics and coaches is that they can not talk to anyone "off the record" without it being abig deal. Puts coaches in bad situations.

 

As for the political beliefs, he is applying for head football coach, not to be the Pope.

From what I hear Brian Kelly's moral and political beliefs go against, what we are led to believe, everything that Notre Dame stands for. If Notre Dame hires Brian Kelly, the administration are as phony as some believe they are.

Why? Because he sides in favor of abortion? Because the guy believes in gay marriage? The guy is a liberal, so what? No shock that a college teacher or professor is a liberal so why should Kelly be any different? Remember, ND also had Obama give a speech at the college, so just because they disagree don't mean they can't hire the guy for crying out loud. I don't see how in the world that makes the administration phony.

RTS I am not sure you are a Catholic, but indeed it is a big deal to the Catholic Church!

 

It's one thing to have the President of the United States visit and give a talk, it is one thing to have a teacher being liberal but to have many the most visible person at the University of Notre Dame "The Football Coach" being against everything the Catholic Church stands for? Well it is indeed a bit much and if you have heard some of the talking heads this afternoon, his is also asking for some changes to the academic standards for players also.

It would be different if their disagreement was on health care or global warming but when you disagree on the single biggest fight of the Catholic religion, well lets just say it is a big deal.

 

Paying a guy millions of dollars who's belief's go against what your university teaches and your religion believes, does indeed make the administration phony.
