I think he would get 3-4 years.....this fan base has a ton of idiots who think they know all, so if they make some stupid mistakes early, you'll already hear grumblings....BUT I think a bowl in the 2nd season is a very realistic expectation.

Hlow long will will Louisville fans give Strong, and what are realistic expecations for his first two or three seasons?

 

 

You give Strong 5-7 years. The program is that bad of shape. If you look at the roster they are very small in size. When you see them in person your realize that they don't have BCS size or talent.

 

2 to 3 years he should be able to win 7 games and get in a bowl. (scheduling will allow him to win enough games.)

 

Year 4-5 he should win 8-9 games with a chance at the conference title.

 

Year 6 UofL is Big East Champs and headed to a BCS bowl.

I wonder what role that Seth Hancock, former longtime board member of Churchill Downs and owner of renowned Claiborne Farms in Paris, Kentucky, will have in the Charlie Strong to Louisville movement.

 

Seth and his wife are best friends with the Strongs and his son is a manager on the Florida football team. He is a former huge UK supporter/donor, but fell out with UK several years ago and now supports Florida football and Billy Donovan and the Gator basketball team.

 

He was very instrumental in Sam Robey going to Florida due to his Florida connections and his relationship with Rick Robey, which goes back to his UK days.

 

I assure you he plays a major role in Charlie Strong coming or not coming to Louisville. This is the guy that Tom Jurich needs to have on his side for the Strong deal to come to be.

I sure there were several factors, but one of them had to do with his push and endorsement of his friend Mike Gottfried to become the UK football coach. Obviously, the UK athletic department went in a different direction.

Hancock was the main contact between UK and Donovan when they worked out BD's agreement to come to UK following OTS's departure.

All the stipulations for BD to come was worked out through Hancock.

Hancock is tight with the UF crowd.

Yes, absolutely.

 

But not nearly as detrimental as it is to the Big East, because it is more of a fluke for the SEC. For about the past 4 years the winner of the SEC championship has been an absolute lock for the National Championship.

 

A conference with that type of consistency & power can afford to take a hit like that without it affecting the value of the jobs within the conference.

 

I think Strong should wait until the Notre Dame job is filled before making a decision.

Id like to see Jurich take his time. The only coach he interviewed the last time was Kragthorpe and we all know how that turned out. Charlie Strong seems to be a good candidate but this needs to be a good hire. Looks to me like Jurich is using the same approach as the last time. Me personally, I would like to see and offensive minded coach.

UF has offerred a raise to keep Strong. Jurich and Strong are supposed to resume talks this afternoon. Evidentally Strong is up for an award for being the top assistant in the country that is given out today.

 

I still think he's the man, if he weren't more names would be rumored for the job.

Just hope no one lines up in an unbalanced line vs. him like Alabama did, then his liable to give up 400 yds rushing again!
