There will be a lot of lobbying going on over the next week. You have a logjam of 7-5 teams from the SEC.

Where will UK end up?

Here is how I see it.

Florida and Alabama will be in the National title game and the Sugar Bowl.

Capital One Bowl gets the SEC #2, which by default should be LSU (6-2, 9-3)

Ole Miss (8-4, 4-4) to the Cotton Bowl

Tennessee (7-5, 4-4) to the Outback Bowl

Georgia (7-5, 4-4) to the Liberty Bowl

Auburn (7-5, 4-4) to the Chick Fil-A Bowl. They have had their eye on Auburn the second half of the year.

Arkansas (7-5, 4-4) to the Independence Bowl

South Carolina (7-5, 4-4) to the Music City Bowl

Kentucky (7-5, 4-4) to the PapaJohn's Bowl

If that happens, the loss to Tennessee cost Kentucky the difference in the Outback Bowl payout ($3 million) and the PapaJohns Bowl Payout ($300K).

UK may have an outside shot at the Chick Fil-A Bowl. That payout is $2.4 million. Music City payout is $1.6 million.

That leaves three SEC teams -- Arkansas, Kentucky, and South Carolina -- gunning for the Music City Bowl and the Independence Bowl. I think Arkansas goes to the Independence Bowl.

That leaves UK and USC for the Music City.

The loser could then be shipped to one of the other bowl games where a conference didnt meet the minimum requirement of bowl eligible teams.

Those are the New Mexico Bowl where the Mountian West falls short; the Little Cesaers Pizza Bowl in Detroit against the MAC (likely Central Michigan and Dan Lefevour); the EagleBank Bowl in Washington DC against C-USA since the ACC falls short; or the GMAC Bowl in Mobile where the ACC falls short and would be against another MAC team.

10 SEC eligible teams. Nine SEC bowl tie-ins. Who is the oddball and where do they go?

You forgot the Papa John's Bowl in Birmingham...

Something else to consider. UK and Louisville play basketball on Jan. 2, which is the same day as the Papa Johns Bowl and the Liberty Bowl. I cant see UK wanting to split resources between venues on the UK/UL basketball date.

You forgot the Papa John's Bowl in Birmingham...

I caught that and sent UK there.

I had two different lists. One didnt mention PapaJohns and the other said the Outback was an ACC tie-in and not SEC, which may still be true.

Chick-Fil-A representative was in the post game press conference and was seen speaking to Brooks... I'd put my last dollar on them playing in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta vs. Georgia Tech/Clemson.

Im going with the Music City, the Chick Fil A Bowl is a long shot.

All SEC teams split the payout of the bowl season, so effectively there was zero loss financially as a result of last nights game.

My money would go on the Outback Bowl. I really think Kentucky gets it this year.

I hope you are right, but I'm going to say Music City.

I hope you are right. But that Georgia Tech running game would be big trouble for the UK defense IMO.

The latest bowl projections have them in the Papa Johns against UConn. I've posted a link in the Bowl Projection thread.

I'm happy we're at least in a bowl game, but I sure hope it's not the Music City Bowl. We've been there and done that.

I'm hoping for the Chick-Fil-A. Their reps may be interested in Auburn, BUT....UK and Auburn have identical records, and UK beat Auburn on the road. Plus, there's no way Auburn will bring any more fans to the game that the Cats, I don't care if they are closer to the venue than Kentucky.

I, too, would love for Kentucky to go to the New Year's Eve, Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.

Unfortunately, it does make sense to me that Kentucky might end up in Birmingham in the Papa Johns.com Bowl.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that we might get to go to Catlanta!
