Over Meyer? He said what he said, but it's not like he had any choice. What is any coach going to say in that situation? Stoops has lied, but everyone gives that a pass.

 

I think Stoops is a great coach and would/will do great at ND. I just think that you have to try the impossible sometimes. Try for Meyer, try for Gruden, heck dig up Bear Bryant and beg him if need be.

 

ND needs a home run, Stoops can be that, but I just can't see him as the first option. Maybe ND has put out some feelers to others, I don't know.

 

Of course Meyer has to be numero uno. But I think the chances are very, very slim. I think his situation is a bit like Donovan's a few years ago. An assistant at a historic university, heads to Florida and wins two national titles. Has young kids in school in the area. Has a wife that loves Gainesville.

I agree. I think that they would have a good shot at BK, but I just hate to call anything a done deal.

I know for a fact there is serious work being done on an extension at UC between BK and the Admin that bumps him up over 2 mil and includes another very nice raise for the entire staff. The practice facility is green lighted, and construction begins in a few days, and the renovation plans for Nippert are also nearing completion. UC is showing him they will do whatever it takes to keep him, and if he wants to build his own legacy like he has said many times, there is a very good chance he stays put for at least a little while longer...

I think it's the exact same situation with one exception. Pitino, some say led Donovan away from UK. Good ole' Lou would love for Urban to come to South Bend.

 

Only if UF loses saturday could I see Urban leaving, and that still slim. I say make him an offer that he cannot refuse. He is a proven winner so it would be worth the money. A couple of BCS trips and he woud pay for himself.

Great hire IMO. I have a feeling BK stays though. ND will have a shot, and a pretty decent one I just think that things will not work out. Just my gut feeling, but inside info obviously.

That incentive plan looked like about 8 million plus if he can get to a title. I don't see anyone matching that.

UC fans can rest easy about Notre Dame, I'd be very surprised if Brian Kelly was on the ND top 5 wish list. But UC fans SHOULD worry about the domino effect caused by the coach Notre Dame does hire.

Let's face it, Urban Meyer would not be leaving the University of Florida to coach at Notre Dame for the money.
