Isn't the Massey Ratings the one that doesn't factor in the out of state games? (Highlands vs Withrow and Cinti. X )

I'd be excited if Crittenden only loses by 10 after the beatdown Mayfield gave the Rockets a few weeks ago.

Anderson was the Ohio D2 champ in '07 and finished 2nd in '08. They moved up to D1 this season. They did play Boone and beat them by 50+ this season.

Also, they were the only Ohio Division I team from Cincinnati to go through the 2009 regular season undefeated, I believe.

Sounds like they would be a good matchup with Highlands...By the way, I put in Highlands vs Elder and Highlands vs Alcoa, Tn on a neutral site...According to Masseys:

Highlands 24 Alcoa 23

Massey probably had Cin St. X over Highlands too, I guess they missed on that one.

Moving it ahead by one week Massey makes Mayfield a 10 pt favorite over Beechwood and a 21 pt favorite over Bellevue.

 

Lexington Christian a 21 pt favorite over Hazard.

They were D1 for quite a few years before moving down to D2. I think 2007 and 2008 were the only seasons at that classification for them before being moved back up.

I've always thought of Anderson Township as kind of a larger version of Ft. Thomas or Ft. Mitchell.

 

I agree w/ that. There are a lot of cool "old" routes in Anderson w/ winding roads and really nice homes along them.

If you want to compare scores, they beat Middletown last week, who SMOKED Moeller 40+-19. Anderson also beat Boone by about the same score that St. X beat them a couple of weeks ago. They've always had average to above average teams, just not on par w/ the GCL (who is consistently besides Colerain?). The past few years they and Turpin, a rival school in the same district, have really come on strong.

In Masseys defense, most of us also missed on Warren Central all year. They were one of the most up and down teams in the state. Never knew what you were going to get from week to week.

Agreed. You never knew which WC team was going to show up. In their defense they did play with a bit more consistency after the Grayson Co. loss.

Those are great matchups, but having seen all three play this year, I have a hard time believing that Elder is not the lesser of the three mentioned.

Birdsfan, who is Anderson out of Cincinnati? I hear alot about Elder, St X, Colerain, etc, but, this is a new one on me..

 

Anderson is part of the Forest Hills School District which has two high schools Anderson (Div 1 moved up this year) and Turpin (Division 2).

When I played in the GCL there were only four high schools – St. Xavier, Elder, Roger Bacon and Purcell. The GCL was called the Greater Cincinnati League.

 

Now it refers to itself as the Greater Catholic League and has schools in three divisions who do not play in the same division for OHSAA playoff purposes.
