Cal had to be disappointed with the offense. Personally, I was happy to see us get so many turnovers off of our full court pressure.

 

There was a stretch where UK had probably 5 - 6 deflections in less than 3 minutes due to our length & full court pressure. I LOVED seeing that.

He noted that C'ville liked to slow it down and pass for 30 seconds. He decided to press to speed the game up and force them into doing something they didn't want to do.

 

That makes me feel good because I haven't noticed any in-game decision-making during the past two UK seasons :sssh:

Another quick note - NAIA doesn't have rules on practice hours, etc. Coach Adkins stated that they have been working out for weeks in preparation for the game. UK has been practicing for 12 days.

I would guess they've been at work about 5 weeks. NAIA limits teams to 24 weeks of practice/competition for sports. There are still roughly 19 weeks left in their schedule including the Mid-South Conference Tourney at the beginning of March.

I know it's early, but that was what stood out the most to me. The team is ultra-talented, but they have a ways to go in a number of areas. But I'm confident they will be a very good team by the new year.

I dont think Perry has ever had a 20+ game playing himself. IMO he would have scored more have he played more mins. and I was just stating it wasnt say he would been make the All-American Team.:isurrender:

If only UL, UNC, UConn , and the SEC were filled with 6'5 centers and power forwards.

I think the way he scored his points was what Cal liked about his play. You wouldn't see him put the ball on the floor and drive to the goal last year.:thumb:

I get what you're saying, but there were lots of positives to take out of the game last night, for those who watched the game.

 

First & foremost, UK's defense. Had it not been for a dumb foul @ the end of the 1st half, Campbellsville may have only scored 9 points in the 1st half. That's right...9!

 

I think they only had 3 made baskets in the 1st half.

 

Did you expect anything else? UK is so good this should have happened!

 

 

By the way...Coach Cal stated he saw good, bad and ugly. I watched the post game press conference. :D:D

It was very obvious toward the end with Miller, Krebs, and Stevenson in there that they were actually running the offense. I hope Perry can contribute.

Definitely, this is not UK's final product I've never been one to judge much from these games except hustle. You see lineups that you won't see again all season and the big school coaches sub players in and out the whole game that may not see the floor in the season. The only thing I just this game on is individual effort.

The same can be said for the person everyone on here seems to love in Josh H. The only games he has looked good in has been against bad teams or scrimmages. That is why I never been on the Josh H bandwagon. Neither Stevenson or Josh H. probably will get many minutes. However I think Stevenson would help the team out more than Josh H can.

UK is talented, but I did not expect this group of talented individuals team defense as well as they did.

 

No one questions Kentucky's individual talent. But talent does not equate to good defense. The fact that they played defense so well leads me to believe that this team will have some grit, determination & heart. That, and Campbellsville was just overmatched & undersized.
