Every football player in the country risk losing and injury every time they step on the football field. Even in practice,they risk injury. This is not the first time you mentioned Colerain will hurt the players who play against them? What does Colerain do differently that would cause more players to get injured,more so , than when playing other teams? (I can't wait to hear this.) :scared:

Desales has played every GCL South team in the past few years (2 this year I believe). They pratically go begging for opponents. My guess is they would welcome a game with Colerain.

Also as far as Colerain ducking no one. It might have been to their benefit if they would have ducked either St. X or Elder this year and replaced it with someone who would have given them a Harbin point (how many points did they need?).

As always, great points jbwill2. BTW, did you really get moderated on Yappi?? Do you know how hard that is to do over there? You must have unleashed after years of playing nice over here on BGP.

OR, play Boone County in week 1, beat them by 6 TD's and get ridiculed for not playing anyone worth a crap when you could have scheduled tougher.

 

Next year, Colerain is playing Elder @ home in week 2 and will travel to Louisville (first time ever) for the return game at Manual. Our week 1 Crosstown Showdown opponent has not yet been determined...and I can tell you that I have personally looked into Coach Bolden's eyes and told him he needed a nice, fat Harbin Cow in week 1 and he needed to stay as far away from the GCL (sans LaSalle, who flat out refuses to play us) as possible.

The Bombers are playing at a different level right now. The completely destroyed Trinity last nights. All reserve and 2nd teamers in the second half.

Oh, and I guess I'm one of those Highlands "blow hards" you are referring to, because after watching X vs Cathedral, Colerain, Lou X and Trinity on tape, I was telling people (including the Ru if you'd like to check) before the game that Highlands would win. Because of Highlands speed and quickness throughout the team, but particularly on the O and D lines, we would exploit matchup problems for X. And unlike prior years when we played Colerain and the GCL teams, we could truly two platoon so the depth issue wouldn't come into play this year.

 

I guess we score it: Highlands blow hard-1; Colerain know it all-0. :banana:

Again, 95%+ of anyone that voiced an opinion on the X/Highlands game picked X. I am not going to explain why I picked X or even admit it was a poor pick. It made sense at the time. Honestly, picking Highlands could only be viewed as a blow hard move, despite the "speed" on the Bluebirds team. St. Xavier has played teams just as fast this year and won, so...

 

If you honestly thought Highlands would win and had concrete reasons, than nice job. You are quite impressive. :notworthy:

And you've nailed the proverbial nail on the head right there: GCL South team.

 

DeSales is a private Catholic school. The GCL, obviously, are private Catholic schools. Colerain is a public school. Guess which two are going to partner up and help each other when it comes to scheduling.

 

My guess is, they want no part of Colerain. And not because they don't think they could hang with or even maybe beat us (chuckle, chuckle) but because they would much rather help out schools "like them".

 

You know, the whole public vs. private thing isn't exclusive to KY, right? You are aware that there is distaste for each other on the North side of the river as well?

Highlands and St. Xavier are playing on and Colerain is not end of story. I really do not think that any of these 3 would not take on all comers, but sometimes schedules cannot be worked out for various reasons some of which can and are personal between coaches. All that really matters for those teams that are still playing are this weeks opponents because now it is one and done. Perhaps Highlands and Colerain can hook up again sometime in the future, but for now what is done is done.

I call it the "Colerain Hangover". Teams typically don't fare well after playing Colerain. I don't know if it's a letdown after getting up for a game against an opponent like Colerain or if they are physically beaten up a bit. I personally think it's a combination of both that wears on teams and lingers after their contest with Colerain is long over.
