Bruns is allowed to go for the ball too. He stepped up to go for the ball and barely made contact with the receiver when the ball was still thrown to hard for either of them to get too.

 

That was absolutely pass interference on Highlands. The play I was referring to was the offensive pass interference penalty called on Ryle late in the game.

Was this always a game HHS had in control or was it a game where they scored at the end to make a somewhat close game into a 17 pt victory?

Anyone who disagrees go look at the film. The extra push earned him the flag. Its not like Hempel took him down out of bounds.

Let's keep the discussion about the actual game, and not about possible coaching comments or questionable calls, etc.

Dude, you have the wrong person. The "short coach with short hair" who was accused of encouraging Ryle players to take out an HHS player is NOT the Ryle coach who is a minister. Maybe - MAYBE - he might have told Ryle players that #29 is a cheap shot artist. And my point is - SO WHAT? Maybe he saw something on the field that makes him think that. If you think that an HHS coach has never made a similar remark about an opponent, you're dreaming.

 

I do not know who the coach was, whether it was the minister or not. Really doesn't matter to me one bit. I do know that a member of the RYLE coaching staff made a point to the entire bench. And it was not a "be careful" point, it was pretty clear what he meant.

90% of coaches who think a player is doling out cheap shots will let their players know that said player has to be dealt with.

Well Copperstown I hate to burst your bubble, but the coach I talked about in the first game was the same guy yelling that #29 was a cheap shot artist. That's the plain and simple truth. I was vey close to him when he said it and saw the words leave his mouth. I only mentioned minister because it was mentioned in a post after the first game. Whether he is a minister or not I might be mistaken about, but I'm deadly accurate about what he said tonight during the game.

 

And, once again, the "offensive" minister who upset you so much last game because he was loudly cheering on his own team is NOT the person who told a Ryle player to take out an HHS player. He - possibly - may have called a HHS player a cheap shot artist. And I say, big deal. Things like that are said on the sidelines all the time. Except HHS sidelines obviously.

They would (absolutely, 100%) NOT put out an order to the team to "take out" an opposing high school football player. That is inexcusable!

He is saying that the Ryle coach was telling his players to take a kid out. Not that the kid was just a cheap shot artist. The point of telling your kids to take a kid out is "bush league"..PERIOD!!!

Wow, after such a hard fought game on both sides of the ball, you are complaining about someone that you know nothing about. The man that you are speaking of is a man of great integrity and honor. If you spent one hour with this man you would be a better person for it. He runs a non-profit ministry that does nothing but good things for people all over the world that are less fortunate than you and me. I find it offensive that you would make such unfounded statments about him; you should be ashamed! I don't know who you are referring to but I would bet my life on it that you have pointed out the wrong man.

 

Well that's admirable that he does those things. I'm just telling what the coach I saw tonight said. My statement is not unfounded. I'm sure if you ask him if he said that #29 was a cheap shot artist he would tell you yes. He is a very boisterous guy that sticks out when he's yelling. It just happened to be in front of the highlands crowd.

 

Cooperstown really had the better argument. "So what if he said it."

 

I listened to the coach a lot tonight. I did not hear him say to take anybody out.

Congrats to the Birds on a hard-fought victory. Ryle played well enough to beat most teams in the state, but the TO's and 4-5 big plays by the Birds were the difference. Can't see anyone coming close to Highlands as the cruise to another title.
