October 17, 200917 yr I don't mind his negatives but he could try to balance them out with a few positives occasionally. It makes him look like he's on a witch hunt against UK. I asked my brother who lives in Texas to read it and he said he didnt anything negative about it, other than it may have been written to balance the pie in the sky stories about Calipari. He said you haven't seen anything negative until you read what the columnists there have to say about the Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys.
October 18, 200917 yr What is unfactual about what he wrote? Pointing out negatives is not trashing. Calling UKs fans ridiculously overconfident and saying the team will not make it past the Sweet 16 because they are idiots would be considered trashing. The 1st thing that is "unfactual" that stands out to me is that there the University of Kentucky did not violate Rule 13.11.4, like Tipton stated. I don't think "unfactual" is a word, but I admire the "creativity".
October 18, 200917 yr First of all he has the number of the bylaw wrong. Secondly, I'm not sure that when you read the bylaw that there was any violation. The mentioning of the "Tubby ball" statement is an attempt to stir the pot. Tipton's profession is a dying one and he is desperate. Let the man fade away.
October 19, 200917 yr I read the article didn't bother me at all. I could hear one of our fans saying it looks like Tubby ball.
October 19, 200917 yr http://www.kentucky.com/818/story/980614.html I know Tipton has to work the crowd (like a heel in pro wrestling), but his attempts to suck the life out of UK sports never cease to amaze me. I find it disappointing that he works for the Lexington Herald-Leader and then attacks the hometown team. I read the article and didn't find it as "attacking the home team." :idunno:
October 19, 200917 yr Author I read the article and didn't find it as "attacking the home team." :idunno: Tipton names his "highs" and "lows" from BBM on his blog (ukbasketball.bloginky.com). Here are the lows: Lows – Introduction of players. Where were they? Not everyone in the arena, especially upstairs, could see each player standing on a platform, that lowered to about 30 feet above the stage. From the press box area, you could see the players only from the waste down. Re-think that one, UK. – Fans who came to see basketball. On Thursday, Calipari noted how the fans came for basketball. He suggested more basketball and less show biz. Alas, it appeared show biz won again. Madness began on time at 7:30. The men’s scrimmage did not start until 9:13, and finished 27 minutes later. – Three-point shooting. Aside from Harrellson, the players struggled with perimeter shooting. I counted three airballs. Calipari salvaged the night by grabbing the microphone and candidlly telling the crowd that the players had plenty of improvement to make. – Patrick Patterson. If he’ll showcase his face-the-basket skills this season, he’s got some work to do. He had one of the airballs from three-point range and impacted the scrimmage in a familiar way: by throwing his weight around at the basket. – Fans chanting the names of prospects, including Michael Gilchrist more than once, C.J. Leslie more than once and Tobias Harris. According to NCAA rule 13.11.4, such chanting is a no-no. – Your selfless correspondent for leaving out of his story perhaps the quote of the night. During his address, Calipari told the crowd, “Tonight we turn the page from anticipation to preparation.” My opinion - Patrick Patterson, really? Pat was the best looking player on the court, IMO. How could you find anything negative to say about Patterson?

October 19, 200917 yr Didn't the team have a hard workout earlier in the day? They were probably tired, especially after the dunkfest in warmups. Patrick Patterson shoots an air ball in a scrimmage and it's major breaking news with Tipton. :ohbrother: Mr. Negativity himself.
October 19, 200917 yr Author Here is a comment that Doron Lamb gave to ZagsBlog.com: “The highlight [of the visit] was when I walked out with the others [recruits]and the crowd was cheering and gave us a standing ovation. I’ve never had anything like that happen to me,” Lamb told Gary Bedore of the Lawrence Journal-World & News. So, at KU, they bring the players out and crowd gives them a standing ovation. At UK, it's an NCAA violation if the crowd pays any attention at all to the recruits? I'm not buying it...

In person they may have been good, but on TV, wasn't impressed at all.
October 19, 200917 yr Tipton isn't really buying all the hype around the team. Or he just really loves Miss. St. In the Lex. Herald yesterday he posted his preseason SEC ballot. He had Miss St. winning the SEC and Varnardo as the player of the year. I actually have no problems with that. With so many new faces it will be hard for UK to live up to expectations. Tipton definitly has his reservations about this year's team.
October 19, 200917 yr As well he should. Very little postseason experience. New Coach. New System. Unrealistic expectations. No outside shooting. But hey. With Calipari of Nazereth on the bench, they should get past all of that.
