October 19, 200917 yr The rest of the media tends to disagree: http://www.lex18.com/news/patterson-sec-player-of-the-yearuk-sec-champs# The media also picked Alabama to win the West and didnt list Jodie Meeks on either the first or second team preseason SEC Teams last year. How did that turn out?
October 19, 200917 yr Author The media also picked Alabama to win the West and didnt list Jodie Meeks on either the first or second team preseason SEC Teams last year. How did that turn out? My opinion is that I would have zero problems with Tipton's choices, if those are his actual opinions.
October 19, 200917 yr I'm sure I understand why someone who works in Lexington HAS to pick UK to win the league and a UK player as POY. If he did that, people would be calling him a homer and rightfully so.

He doesn't have to at all, but it's my opinion that deep down he thinks UK is the team to beat - yet, he votes for Mississippi State just to stir up local controversy. That's my opinion :thumb: By the way, Garry Parrish says "John Wall Voted Second Team SEC by (Dumb) Media"
October 19, 200917 yr A lot of his factual points were right. But the tone of his writing was mean-spirited and not necessary.
October 20, 200917 yr The media also picked Alabama to win the West and didnt list Jodie Meeks on either the first or second team preseason SEC Teams last year. How did that turn out? You don't seem to care much about UK I am guessing. As for Meeks, who would have put Meeks on either team after only playing in very few games the year before. And its not like he put up ridiculous numbers as a freshman. So the media deserves a pass in that situation.
October 20, 200917 yr A lot of his factual points were right. But the tone of his writing was mean-spirited and not necessary. LBBC, great post. I think you hit the nail on the head. I don't have a problem with Tipton (I rarely read his articles), but I think the problem a lot of people have with Forde & Tipton isn't the articles themselves. They're typically well-thought out and generally accurate. But frequently they have negative undertone that has become all too familiar and, even worse, predictable.
October 20, 200917 yr I don't really think Tipton is very good. But he typically don't bother me. I didn't like the story he did on Rondo driving Derek Anderson's vehicle where a picture was taken of Rondo and hte vehicle, while the photographer was hiding in the bushes I believe. Other than that I think I was critical of him for giving inaccurate information a time or 2. Other than that I don't really mind him. BTW, IMO the best writer at the Lex. Herald is Chip Cosby. I think he does a very good job.

Meeks was proclaimed as healthy before the season started. People are whining that Wall should be POY before he's played a single college game. Why doesn't the media get a pass on that one too?

Why would they love their team and be loyal to them? I can't figure out those crazy 18%.

People are whining that Wall should be POY before he's played a single college game. Why doesn't the media get a pass on that one too? I looked through the thread and have yet to see someone say Wall should be the POY. Although a lot of media people are saying he should I don't agree myself. He has yet to play a college game. As for Meeks, no one knew he was going to blow up like that last year unless someone was a prophet or psychic. Back to Tipton, he wanted to take a shot with the rules violation deal. He likes to do that from time to time. If he can be critical there is nothing wrong with fans being critical of him if they choose to be.
October 20, 200917 yr Y'all have to be super sensitive to think that's a negative article! It's not negative, it's objective. Is every article about UK Basketball supposed to leave one feeling that the author :notworthy: to Calipari and/or UK Basketball? :idunno:
