October 12, 200916 yr How isn't he? I mean he was great in 2006 the season right after the injury. So he showed he was just fine still after that. The team itself changed a lot after 2006 though, and his play did go down just like any other QB would have if they were QB of the team then. As for that play QB's go through pre-reads before the snap. Before the snap Palmer saw the one safety blitzing, and Reed on the other side of the field. So the read would be to go with the quick slant to where the safety was blitzing from. It was just a great individual play by Reed plain and simple. He is probably the only safety in the NFL who is able to pull that off. If Palmer is so bad at reading defenses, I don't think he would be so good against the Ravens in his career, and probably would have had more interceptions than just that one today. It was just a great play by a great player in Reed, those things do happen. If the QB's job is to solely read the defense before the snap sign me up because I can do it. However, he must read during the play as well. He had time before he let that ball go to make a read. Bad call by Carson.
October 12, 200916 yr First off, anyone that says they wouldn't take Ray Lewis on their team is lying. Secondly, I didn't think the hit on Estaban was cheap. It was probably illegal but it wasn't cheap. Its how you play the game. The rule to protect a defenseless receiver is the right rule but it doesn't mean the hit was cheap. Heck, that hit wasn't much different in impact than JJ's on Heap. Well said. Ray Lewis is a great defensive player. And, I tried to distinguish between an illegal hit & a cheap shot, but couldn't convey my thoughts as clearly as you. Either that, or they just didn't want to listen. :lol:
October 12, 200916 yr First of all I do agree with you that the Ray Lewis hit was not cheap, it was illegal but it was not cheap or dirty at all. Stuff like that does happen in football...My point being is that you keep making it sound like it was more of the Ravens losing it than the Bengals, I disagree and I think most would. If the Bengals lost then it would have been because of the Bengals losing it. I mean the Bengals dominated this game, and it was their own fault for why they even had to come back at the end to win it. The Ravens lost. The Bengals won. My point was that it is highly unusual for the Ravens to fall apart defensively. That's exactly what happened on that last drive, which gave Cincinnati quite a few breaks & made scoring a touchdown much easier than it should have been.
October 12, 200916 yr Cincy was REALLY impressive today. Dumb things and still physically beat the Ravens. Teams don't run the ball on them like that! Glad Ray lit 85 up and glad 85 jumped right up. I'm a Bengals fan but I love Ed Reed. I could watch him and Polamalu play all day!

You make it sound like you have all day to look around and then make a decision. I bet you almost every QB in the NFL would have the same decision to go that way with the throw. Hardly ever would you think or see a Safety come all the way over from the other side of the field, and be able to intercept a pass like Reed did. At worst most of the time the safety would only make it back over top in the middle of the field. Sometimes you have to give credit where credit is due, because most QB's would make the same decision to throw that ball.

October 12, 200916 yr I'm in shock. Great effort defensively by the Bengals. Benson's performance at 1st seems unbelievable, but during the game it made sense. The O line played great, and he ran hard on every play. Pretty run for a TD. I thought the locker room scene with Marvin giving Zimmer the game ball was a great moment. They are in great shape in the division and must avoid the letdown, that such an emotional win can bring. I will agree with FutureCoach that this appears to be a different team, with a totally different mentality and approach. I went out to watch the game, and had to go to a couple of places to find a spot for our group. We had a complete blast. This is what NFL football is all about. Go Bengals!!
