Update on Shelby Valley's Elisha Justice

Featured Replies

I talked to someone close to Shelby Valley point guard sensation Elisha Justice this morning and learned that Justice picked up an offer from Eastern Kentucky University during the past week.

Eastern joins Jacksonville University on Justice's lists of offers. Coaches from Radford, Marshall, Navy and Morehead State have been to Shelby Valley to watch Justice in open gym.

Louisville assistant and former UK star Walter McCarty will be visiting Pike County this week for open gym. The Cardinals have expressed interest in bringing Justice in as a walk-on during the first year with an opportunity to earn a scholarship the following season.

From all that I've heard about Justice's play this summer, my guess is that his list of offers will increase dramatically during his senior season.

I agree. He already has a college ready body, as well.

The only knock on him is his height, correct? How tall is he and how is his outside shot? Thanks.

Yeah I think his height is the only thing that hurts him IMO. Really haven't seen him that much to know how his shot is.

At 5-7 or 5-8? Really?
I thought he was around 5'10, 5'11?
I don't know what he was listed as last year, but at the Sweet 16 he looked no bigger than 5-8.

I'd giv hi 5-9 tops. That being said, I hear thats how tall Devon Downey actally is at South Carolina. I think if he was a lights out shooter (ala Teddy Dupay) he could play big D-1. Hes a very good shooter, but not hardly on that level. He does everything well and is one of the best players in the state in a loaded class.

Height for a PG is not that big of a deal. We've seen too many "short" players that have had success. If you can PLAY the position height is not an issue.

I don't believe he is good enough to play at UK or Louisville, but he could contribute at a place like Eastern. If you really want to see him get plenty of minutes and contribute heavily, he should go the NAIA route. Not a knock on him, just one man's opinion.

He is a special player with amazing vision. I wouldn't doubt him playing at a level high enough to compete in the Big East. If Pitino likes his game enough to bring him in that speaks volumes of this kids talent.

Didn't folks say the same thing about Knowles?

Very true. But I was much more impressed with Knowles' potential to play D-I in high school than I am with Justice. But again, just my opinion.

Knowles was much more ready than Justice on the defensive end. However, Justice is better offensively. By far, Justice has the best crossover of any KY high school player I have seen and he does a fantastic job making guys around him better. He is a great scorer, but I would not classify him as a great shooter.

I would say he is in the 5'9", 160 range, which would hurt him a D in the Big East. Seems like a MAC type school or a Butler would be a pretty good fit. On average, I would guess that most Big East PG's are going to have 3 or 4 inches on him, a good 40 pounds and be just as quick if not quicker.
