One of them will not be in Bowling Green!

I'm pretty sure that this year, both Trinity and X can make it to the finals, unlike last year, when they played in the semifinal.

Great Job Tigers, keep improving. I am stillied worried about covering the flats, Trinity will come back to that in December. Like him or not Beatty and co have a great offensive scheme.

 

More important, any update on the injuried player for X?

Remember as I ramble...I'm a St. X fan. But...people forget how special Tim Phillips was. I can't wait to see his career turn into a pro career. He was superman and a difference maker in the 'up and coming' Rocks' argument about trophys versus life lessons. I will never argue that the process of a football season has no life lessons, but I will say that I hope Tom Jurich looks at Beattt and Co. for our U of L program. Great x and o coaches. Masterful job of preparing 16-19 for the playoffs but ordinary, non football opinions are not aware of the element of luck and momentum in game outcomes. Think about this...2005...game deciding roughing the passer against petrino called against St. X and it nullifies INT for St. X on game deciding td drive. 2006, Rocks are really really good. Beat Male. Well played. 2007, field goal away from a trophy. 2008, one score game. Great win by Rocks. Deuce Finch held out of game by concussion at the halfway point of third quarter. Oh, don't forget the Brian Brohm era. Count another 3 point trophy in 2003. This isn't about choking. It's football. Trinity Shamrocks, as it used to be traditionally called before the Beatty era, have more football brass but they are about one flag, three feet and one tim Phillips away from a different reality. I would easily trade my St. X twin trophies and rings just to hear Mike Glaser address his losing teams in 2003, 2005-2008. Trinity coaches play to win. No denying that or the potential lessons therewithin. Saint X will never go outside the family to find a coach who can out x and o the opponent. Good or bad, it's loyalty to the 'system' that separates the two schools and will continue to perplex parents that are smothered between deciding what's important in high school education and what will produce instant gratification. Win or lose in December, I will take the mentor versus offensive guru approach. But U of L could sure use some offensive behavior!! Beatty, Beatty, Beatty!!!

When you play as inconsistent as last night, and then look at the scoreboard and see a 32-7 victory score, you've got to feel good about the potential upside and future of this team. The pieces to the puzzel are there and there is a lot of work left to do, but this "Band of Brothers" will make some noise this season.

St.X just has better players this year. They played sloppily and still won. Take away a couple of turnovers and this margin is even uglier. Trinity offensive and defensive lines are not as strong as years past. Trinity couldn't run the ball or stop the run last night because of that. This is the year X finishes in the playoffs I believe.

You gotta admire Trinity's strategy , Lull St. Xavier into a false sense of superiority and then pounce on them in the State Championship Game:D

According to the C-J, the injured X player is in the hospital. My prayers and thoughts are with him and his family. I know this is a difficult time for them.

 

The game was revealing to me. I felt going in that X was going to be far superior to us, so I was surprised it was a decently even game for so long. Big mistakes on our part led to the huge disparity in the score.

 

No excuses here. I also don't think Kragthorpe is healed. He was a great leader, though, I thought. He was obviously in pain, and I noticed them working on him on the sidelines.

 

The offensive line needs a bit of work. They couldn't quite give him enough time, at times. But, to be fair, I also think he took seconds too long at times to make a decision, which cost. All in all, I think both will be corrected.

 

I thought either our Defense played better than expected, or the X Offense wasn't as good as I expected. Buehner was the Offensive star for X, I thought. Twice (at least) our D had them, I thought. Both times, Buehner ripped off long gains. One 21 yards, the next 19 yards.

 

Since both kickers for the teams are well above average, IMO, I wonder if there were conditional factors that led to their misses. I can't see either of them missing from the distances they were kicking that many times in a game without.

 

It was a great atmosphere, as always! It's simply so awesome to be a part of such a great rivalry! Although attendance was down, I feel it was a great display of community between the two schools, and still remains one of my most anticipated events of the year!

 

Congratulations to X! And I agree with what Coach Beatty said in the C-J article, the sun comes up the next day, a new season begins, and I'm not giving up on the Rocks!

Didn't see the kicks, but college uprights are six feet narrower. Way to go Tigers. Finish it this year. I thpight Coach Glaser's comments in the CJ this morning were interesting, acknowledging previous disappointments late in the year. I think the loss to Cincy St. X forced X to make midseason adjustments that were never exposed in prior years.

I was very glad to read that he had motion in his legs and hands this morning. I was sitting far enough away that I could see much except that they had strapped him to the board and taken him to the ambulance. My prayers are with him as well.

I'll echo the sentiments of a lot of people on here in that the game seemed to be won at the line. Trinity's O-line couldn't quite hold the pocket together and it caused problems. I do think they'll get better though. Go Rocks.

I don't know about X, but Trinity has college uprights, if I'm not mistaken.

Maybe I was watching the wrong game but I felt that this Trinity team played X MUCH closer than the past few regular season games. I didn't see the absolute domination on the lines of the past few years on and I think with a few things going their way in the first half, Trinity leads at half and we have a different game.

 

I like T's chance in a rematch if Kragthorpe can stay healthy and Beatty plugs a few holes, as he always does.

Maybe I was watching the wrong game but I felt that this Trinity team played X MUCH closer than the past few regular season games. I didn't see the absolute domination on the lines of the past few years on and I think with a few things going their way in the first half, Trinity leads at half and we have a different game.
