Nick's dad tells me they have a LB named Stephen Daniels who is a freak. 6'1", 240 lbs, and runs a 4.4 (which, of course, everyone always embellishes a little, but still . . :sssh:). Already has offers from WVU and Indiana, I beleive. Said this kid will absolutely knock your head off.

 

If its the kid I'm thinking of he's only a JR.

I think there are several people on here who seem to believe that Highlands will certainly have difficulty stopping X when X has the ball.

 

My question would be, when Highlands has the ball, is their offensive line good enough with enough size to open holes for Collinsworth and allow their QB time to throw the ball. I know they do have the one kid going to Miami; however, traditionally Highlands is very small on the offensive line, which serves them well against KY teams, but not so well against GCL teams.

 

We obviously won't know until Friday night. However, X stopped Colerain's running game. That says a lot.

I didn’t realize that having 6'2 corners who can run was such an anomaly. After being apprised of this I'm sure Bardo will line up behind center and run dive plays all night.

 

Right. There's a lot of teams around here that have 6'2" corners that can fly. You see it all the time. In fact, it's more unusual for teams not to have this size.

Smallest player on X's d line runs 250 pounds. That will wear on any team after a while.

I am sure someone will smack me, but I am fearful about AC. I have not heard any talk about why he was not dressed this past week, and what the issue might have been. Sorry...even if he was not used during this game, he still would have dressed in my opinion.

We'll see. If you have watched HHS O-Line play, then you know they know their assignments and execute. Oftentimes, they are giving up a lot of pounds to the defense, but find a way to get it done. Actually, the concern is not so much the size differential they give up, but when you combine that with speed, it is a difficult combination to work against.

 

I'm betting Coach T will have them ready to go!

The main thing is that Highlands runs rampant in NKY due to DISCIPLINED speed. Players play their assignments and they get there very fast. St. X is every bit as disciplined, if not more so. That's why Colerain can not run the option against them. They play their assignments. Add to that that they are pretty big and athletic and you have Highlands on steroids. I would like to see Highlands pull it out, but to do so they will have to be able to stretch the field.

I heard that CBS will have 6 television cameras in use at the game.

Come on now... are you really surprised? The "Caketown Contingent" love their Bluebirds!!!

 

Frankly, I only see two advantages for Highlands in this game...

 

1. The game is at Highlands.

 

2. Even though (on paper) Highlands is ranked about as highly as any opponent Saint X will face this year, other than Elder, I really believe that Saint X looks at this game against HHS as a "down" game in their schedule, especially when considering what Saint X just got done doing to the top Class 6A KY schools. Perhaps the Saint X players and coaches have a hard time focusing on this game, whereas the HHS coaches and players view this as the Super Bowl.

 

I realize that Trinity may be down some this year compared to previous seasons, but what Cincy Saint X just did to the Shamrocks is alarming, and frankly very humbling to Kentucky prep football in general, as Trinity is the class of Kentucky prep football. It's really mind-boggling and certainly does not bode well for the Bluebirds.

Don't worry, the youngmen from Fort Thomas will take of business. The Bluebirds have been waiting for this oppurtunity for a long time. And, it's just sit up perfect, with a great St X team, maybe one the greatest teams ever. Anyone that knows anything about sports, knows that any team can be beat no matter of the circumstances. Appears that 4.4 is the new 5.0, seems like everybody runs it these days.

I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but the latest rankings on rivals.com has these two teams ranked 24 and 25. Which rankings has everyone been looking at that has St. X at 1? I'm not sure how much stock people put in rivals rankings anyways, just thought it was interesting that they were ranked so close.

 

Does anybody know if this years X team is better than last years Colerain team?? What are the differences and similarities?? A lot of returning players for HHS played against Colerain, so I thought it might get some kind of read on how the game might play out.
