A few years ago Columbus Desales put the biggest home loss on Highlands that anyone cares to remember.

 

Actually, Highlands lost to Louisville Male at Highlands by a score of 30-0 during the second week of the 2001 season... this game was actually ended at halftime on account of a bad storm. But, it still counted as a 30-point home loss, while HHS lost to Columbus DeSales by 26 at home back in 2005.

 

Even worse, Highlands got beat at home by Covington Catholic 42-6 back in 1994; this is a 36-point home loss for the 'Birds... this is the worst home loss HHS has had in recent memory, to the best of my knowledge.

They have a big front line probably averages 6'4" 250, with a couple of 6'3" LB's who are gonna be bringing the house at Bardo on every play.

The difference in this game unlike the others played by Highlands this year is that Bardo isn't going to just run outside the pocket and wait for Buten or Drennan to run down field for a bomb. He's going to the outside in

5th gear with a "catch me you can mentality". This will be the determing factor in the Birds success against the Bombers defense. I'm not sure who will ultimately win the game, but if you have think that you're facing a Louisville St. X or Louisville Trinity type of offense you're going to be in for a shock.

Actually I wasn't comparing anyone to anyone! All that I was doing is showing some examples, to the many highschool athletes that read BGP, that the underdog sometimes wins when they are not suposed to!!! (you do realize high school kids read this website don't you?? ) I'm just trying to be a good role model and show a positive attitude for all kids playing sports in highschool or anywhere else. Your examples are inappropriate because they are pro teams. Pro teams by their very nature are filled with talented players from the top colleges across the country. High school teams, on the other hand, are (somewhat) limited to where they can pull from. Heck, X pulls from the entire Cincinnati area. This is truly , as I pointed out, Muncie Central v Milan. Its an easy concept to follow.

If the Birds tackle well and don't turn it over they have a chance. I think we will see a few different wrinkles on offense. Highlands has a nice supporting cast to the stars. I think after this game a lot of people will be saying Bardo reminds them of the Gator's QB. Play hard and Go Birds! Mr. Kool-Aid has been on my street, and I need a drink.

I would love to see Highlands win this game. I just dont see it happening! Kentucky teams have to start winning some of these border state rivalry's to get some national respect. I just dont think we are at that level yet. But I think we are gaining momentum. I'm saying St. X 42 Highlands 17. I hope I'm way off though.

From what I hear, you can't even play for St.X if you run a 5.4. IMO Highlands will be over matched in this game. The St.X corners will probably be somewhat better than what Bardo faced on last Friday night with Boone, and the front line pressure will be greatly different. I like the fact that they are taking on this challenge which will make them work harder to make plays and get better, but I see St.X controlling a majority of the game. Plus the refs will be on National TV, so that possibly eliminates the chance of some favorable home cooking calls. Good luck to both teams!

If you are relying in Bardo to run it when under pressure then Highlands is in trouble. I am sure Bardo will break 1-2 but Specht is too good and will make the adjusment for that. Highlands has a solid passing game, they have to give Bardo time to make throws. And the St X and Trinity have very good offenses I am not sure what you mean by that.
