I have heard very little talk about how good Russell would be this year. No outlandish expectations from Devil Land. Devils will go 7-3 6-4 and be playing no worse than second round of playoffs. You guys lost the best class in your history. It is not easy to replace your entire backfield and two stud lineman.

 

I am speaking of the '07, '08 seasons. I know that you heard it. I tried not to hear it and I heard it. You are correct, I haven't heard as much of it this year. I am glad that it has quieted some, but it is still there. I heard it at the GC game because I was sitting below the booth in the reserved seating and it was being discussed. Actually, I was shocked to hear it at that time just because of the fact you guys were winning by such a big margin. My thought was just to enjoy the victory instead of dreading the Ironton game and discussing why they couldn't win........It was disheartening.

Something that hasnt been mentioned about this game was the GC punting. Crum punted the ball very well Friday, if he can do that week in and week out, it will help GC big time this year...Great Job Cam!

I think you hear more fluff on this site than in the stands. It is what it is. And I know that the coaches and players and administrators and everyone else reads this stuff. It still amazes me how much some talk on a high school discussion forum can impact folks. Shouldn't be that way, but it is. Glad it wasn't around when I was playing. Of course we had leather helmets back then and Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet.

Same could be said of Russell fans over the past few years. Some actually question whether Coach McGlone knows football. That is insane. The same thing is happening with the Raceland coaches now and it's crazy. CP, you're right about expectations but I don't think it is unfair to rate your team high. Do you really want people in the stands or on here or in the school saying, "mail this year in, you can't be that good."? I actually think it is a good thing that the players, coaches, fans and student body expect nothing worse than 8-2. I sure don't want to be around a group shooting for 2-8. Raceland has been unfortunate with injuries and inexperience but trust me the talent is there. I just don't understand how and why the offense can't get in sync. Our defense has played pretty well but it can't continue to on the field so much. Our offense needs much more than a bunch of 3 and outs.

Go to any game in this day and age and you have parents/fans that will complain no matter what. It can really take the fun out of high school sports for players and coaches.

I agree. I am in no way dismissing last year's talent. We had an awesome team. I am in no way comparing this year's group to that because it is wrong to do. We have a lot of talent on the field and they are not executing and that is frustrating. The players need to make an identity for themselves and become leaders and bone up if the season is going to be corrected. All the coaching and preperation in the world will not cause a player to "want to".

Just want to let everyone know. The JV game RACELAND VS Greenup is today at 6pm At Raceland. It was going to be at Greenup. It maybe because they are finishing up working on the lights.:idunno:

Good post doc, I have decidied I will no longer mention last years Rams when talking about this years team. I don't think that anyone honestly expected this team to be as good, I know that I didn't. What I did expect was for this team to play with the same heart, hustle and desire.
