Oregon RB Blount Suspended For Season

Featured Replies

Hate to see a kid loose his chances at the NFL over something so stupid. However, I agree with a lot of the people above that if he would have punched the kid and then called it a day he would still be playing. However, when he went off on his own team and then went all Ron Artest in the stands, he deserves what he got in this one. As a coach, would anyone want someone back on their team after they tried to fight their own teammates, the other team, and the fans in one incident? I think not.

 If he gets back in the guy's face it is lack of control and bad, but one thing...to come up and hit him while he is not looking is dirty.

I absolutely agree with the suspension, I also still believe that the Boise State player should have been suspended for 1 game.

it is all about taking responsibility for your own actions. Tough lesson, but it is the proper outcome IMO.

Best sucker punch since George McFly decked Biff outside the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance.

Bahahaha! Agreed...

Yeah,...Stupidity.

If you're going to taunt someone, KEEP YOUR HELMET ON. (you mo-ron)

One of my biggest problems, as a former football player, is how not one Boise State player did ANYTHING to Blount after he decked their guy. That guy wouldn't have made it out alive on my team.

If you are going to taunt someone after a game you better be ready for a fight. Oregon should have suspended the player for half the season. Football is a physical game and altercations happen. The BSU player should be suspended for taunting the other team.

So besides the sucker punch to the "taunter", you have no problem with the Oregon player throwing on his own teammate and then attempting to get into the crowd? IMO he's lucky he's still and school, and not in court Tuesday.

I don't really care about the punch, what bothered me was when he shoved his teammate afterwards.

I think if Blount had ended it after the punch and not had a total meltdown he probably would have received the penalty you mention. But he went on and on and had to be restrained, all playing out on ESPN. Bad for him and his university.

I agree that the Boise State player should be suspended for at least a few games for his part in all this. He was the spark that ignited the explosion.

Based on these two alone I think it was too harsh.

Are you serious?

No, I have a disorder that causes me to post the opposite of what I actually mean.

Is this post part of the disorder, or were you being sarcastic?

If Blount didn't suck so bad, and would have gained more than 8 yards, it wouldn't be so bad. He deserved to be taunted after such a pitiful performance.

What about punching his teammate before it? Blount threw a punch at Garrett Embry (Oregon #86) before punching Hout, but caught mostly helmet.

Embry > Hout in intelligence.

I didn't see that part of the video, but if that's the case I say keep him as far away from the football team as possible.

He was walking away and Hout slapped him on the shoulder, I can maybe see why he threw the punch, but never under any circumstances should you get violent with a team mate in public.
