The 6:00 and 7:00 games will be running behind....

Highlands 8th grade team will be really good this year with a lot of size. I am curious to see if they keep Schweitzer on this squad or move him up. The Bird Frosh are losing a couple players and could use some size in the middle and rumor has it Nick True the 6'4 8th grader will be playing JV this year.

I won't disagree that the Highlands 8th grade team will be good, but the purple and gold from Alexandria will be loaded, coaching will be the concern, but when isn't it????

Who does the 8th grade team have with size? Who are the couple of players that the frosh are losing and why are they losing them? I for one am not sold on Nick True as yet, especially playing against kids that may be 2 years older than him and that is taking into account the fact that he has been held back. Is there a possibility that Dale moves the True and Schweitzer kids up to the varsity football team at the conclusion of the frosh season thus delaying their transition to the hardwood?

Brandon Hergott has nice size, another kid who is a relative of Matt Roberts really came on last year late in the season and goes around 6'1. I cant think of his name but he has dark hair and is really aggressive. They could be considered twin towers.

I dont think they move True or Schweitzer up to VArsity Football but I am curious whether or not they will move them up to Frosh Basketball. True has shown a lot of improvement. I watched him in the summer and thought he played stronger and quicker in the paint. He will develop into a fine player but I wish they would let him play Frosh/JV. I also think the Schweitzer kid could play Frosh and be effective.

As far as the frosh kids not playing, there are a few (reserve players) that were on the roster last season not coming out and word on the street is Jac Collinsworth isnt playing hoops but might just be a rumor. Dupont also transferred to NCC so they should still have a very solid 5 or 6 IMO but I would imagine they will be playing a lot of minutes.

I know for a fact that Nick True has never been held back, I've seen his birth certificate. A very good kid that has lots of growing to do yet, and will be loads of fun to watch at Highlands in the coming years.

I'd check those facts.

Yup, but just because your held back a grade doesnt mean it wasnt a good move. He has a very late birthday and is still only 13 yrs old and stands 6'4 and goes about 210lbs. Held back or not, he played frosh ball last year so its a moot point. I just hope he plays another year of frosh ball because I think it will be good for him but I dont make those decisions.

You know me, I don't buy in to the whole held back garbage. I was just arguing Scamp's contention. The kid is huge and he will be eligible to play his senior year in high school, so it doesn't matter.

Yea I know, I was just responding to your post so Scamp could see it.

Sounds like the Camels will be strong as well. Do they have any Bigs in the Middle school ranks?

JOAT- I also failed to mention Seth Hope as a returning big man. The 8th grade Birds will have 3 legitimate big fellas to roam the paint in Hergott, Hope and other boy I mentioned. All 3 of these kids are atleast 6' and bring a ton of athleticism. Also, it will be interesting to see if the new kid who is in school and dominating on the Green football team in the FTJRFL has basketball talent. He goes around 5'10 150lbs and is a burner. Once again I am terrible with names but I do know his first name is Jaylen and he transferred from Newport at the beginning of this school year.

They also return a couple of really nice guards in Houliston and Brendan Buten. Not sure if Beau Hoge will move up and play, I doubt it but they should form a very nice squad for Coach Vories to work with this season.

What kind of team will Tichenor have this year?

Tichenor 7th grade team will be solid group of kids, with start five of (pg) Plageman, (sg ) Shereck, ( sf ) Moilter ( pf ) 5' 10"" Joseph, , ( c ) 6' Sergio.

4 of the 5 kids have played aau basketball for Wolfpack and Lions.

Ockerman should have a strong 7th grade team coming off an undefeated 6th grade year. However, it looks like the competition will be much better this year. On a personal note, Little Guru got the word today he made Ockerman's 7th grade team so we are very excited!
