ANYONE: Is Ty Hornbuckle playing for Ashland this year?

Although I will not be able to make it to this years Ashland vs. Raceland game ( I've made it to the last 4 meetings) I know that the environment and atmosphere at Putnam will be electric as always. If anyone out there on the eastern half of the state is looking for a game to attend, do yourself a favor and make the trip to Ashland for this battle between virtual neighbors. ( I believe there is only like 5-10 miles separating these schools)

That being said, I'm not sure really who to go with in this game. I haven't had the pleasure of watching the Rams play this season, even though the Ram Stadium lights shine in my living room windows. Unfortunately I had to move down to the central part of the state, but I know Coach Hoof, Maynard, and Fannin always seem to ge the most out of their players and work extremely hard in the off season. Also all I've heard from various former players and coaches is that Ashland is the team to beat in the area. But Raceland has marched into Putnam the last 3 years, the virtual underdog, and came out with the victory. I would make a prediction, but I believe its too close to call in this one.

 

I just want to wish both teams the best of luck and to come out injury free, btw if any of you Ram players seem to be having any cramps, I'm sure sidelinedoc will fix you right up, just as he did to me a few years ago when we beat the Tomcats.

Early weather forecast look like Friday evening will be a wet one. Storms and possibly some very hard downpours are on the early forecast.

Good post Young Gun :thumb:. Also, I might add that imo these two schools have alot of respect for one others fcootball programs, school systems and fans. There are common ground and connections with the two schools. I know (as a poster said earlier) that we are obviously on different sides this week but will remain friends after the game regardless of who wins. (except for maybe Painter and Graybeard, a person has to watch those two sandbaggers )

Boyd moved the ball pretty good last week but didn`t have the speed to finish in the endzone on the big plays that they had.They got ran down . IMO Ashland won`t have that problem. Should be a good contest as always but I think Ashland has too much power this year. Good Luck to both.

Likewise, all most everyone has picked against you in the Pick 10 contest. Expect the news paper tomorrow to, unanimously, pick against you. We've been here before. What are you going to do?

All good points, past Raceland teams would take this as a challenge some as down right insult.

 

Rams, that lunch box as my avatar right now is a reminder, you have to grab that "hard work", "blue collar" mentality. Go to work (practice) everyday......FOCUS on your job (game plan).......rely on you co-workers (teammates) to have your back and you theirs......count on supervision (Coaches) to have the right information (game plan,scouting report) and use it to take care of your individual job (keys) for a proffit (Win)for your company (Raceland Football).

 

Stay focused......DO NOT let up.......play every play untill the whistle......Finish The Drill!!!

 

Leave everything that you have in you and then some out on that field Friday night...with no regrets. Don't be coming up later and say "I could have played harder on that play" bc that may very well had been the play that cost you. Rams, you do that and you will have represented Raceland in a way that all Ram Fans can be proud of regardles of the outcome :thumb:. More often than not, when a Raceland team plays like that the outcome is a "W"!

Raceland is on a 13 game regular season winning streak. Since when has Raceland been underdogs? My memory certainly isn’t what it used to be, but I don’t recall the Rams being underdogs in a very, very long time. However, I do remember Raceland thumping their next opponent for THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS…and on that opponent’s home turf no less. Raceland has all the ingredients needed to make it 4 in a row against Ashland. The way this team beat Boyd last week is proof of that.

 

Now I realize these players are young, but I believe they have enough sense to know that being “underdogs” was a battle cry used by the Rams of yesteryear. Raceland has powered their way into state recognition as a premiere football program. These ain’t your gradpappys Rams.

 

Using the “underdog” provocation may have worked in the past, but how can you convince anyone it applies today? :idunno:

Well, I am just going on the information set in front of me. When 9 out of 10 people are saying you are going to lose, that makes you the underdog. And, that happens a lot to Raceland. And any wins that happened before August 28, 2009 have absolutely no barring on this game.

 

Don't listen to them Rams, they are spreading propaganda, trying to make you think you are going to come into Putnam and have some easy game and win without a monumental effort. That is the furthest from the truth. Ashland wants to hang 52 points on you, just like they did Greenup County. They want to embarrass you. They want you to never come Putnam and win again. They want everyone to know they beat you, and beat you badly. What are you going to do about that?

Never Again!!!

 

 

Never Again was the creed that the Tomcats adopted during the winter after the dismal 2007 season when their record was 2-8. They did a good job of turning things around in 2008. But, there is still some unfinished business. Friday night is a chance to take care of some of that unfinished business.

It is Thursday. Game plans have been worked out, practice has been intense. All that is left is which team wants it more and is willing to leave it all on the field. It will be Raceland's physicality vs Ashland's speed. I honestly hope that Raceland steps up and plays smashmouth football. This is our key to victory. If we do not hit hard and tackle hard, it will be a long night for our Rams.
