Raceland won our last 3 games by scores of 16-19, 20-23 and 16-21. That is a combined 11-point margin of victory.

 

I’m thinking Ashland will win by 12 points THIS YEAR.

Ryan, your Devils will get their chance in a few weeks.

You hear that Rams, 12 points. How long does it take you all to score 12 point? Maybe five minutes. Don't take this the wrong way Rams, you will need much more then 12 points. Ashland will score, don't get down, like last week, keep working and play your game. If you have the Fire, Heart, and Desire, you will become a better team no matter what the score is. Remember, we are playing for November, not August. Work, get better, and win baby.

I look for Loren Huffman to have a big game this week. I hope I'm right and other rams follow!

When I look at the results of the Ironton-Ashland series over time, I think I've figured it out...maybe Ashland is just conditioned to be scared to death every time they see a team in orange on the other side of the field! :-) Getting beat 10 straight times by nearly 30 points per game (and I imagine it goes back further than that) might do that to a team.

 

You may be on to something there Ryan…thank goodness Catlettsburg stopped playing high school football…otherwise there would be 3 demons on our schedule! I believe the stretch of wins Ironton has over Ashland is around 18 or so years. It’s very similar to the number of consecutive wins UT has over UK.

 

Speaking of Ironton, I’m anxious to see how the Red Devils fare against them in November…then you follow up that game with?...more on that later.

FWIW...the overall composite record between these two common opponents:

 

Ashland over Raceland 12 – 7

Ashland over Russell 32 - 21

No offense taken here Doc...but this week, we have to pick our respective sides of the fence. Regardless of what happens Friday, we will all still be friends come Monday morning.

If the Rams play like they did in the last 5 minutes of the Boyd County game, they will keep it respectable. If not, the Tomcats will run wild. And there can't be any of this waiting untill the end of the game to start playing, it will take 4 quarters of all out football effort to keep this one close for Raceland. This is a much better Ashland team from a year ago, and we know Raceland took some heavy casualties at graduation. The Rams have to find a way to contain Ashlands speed or they will have more than a 12 point defecit to overcome in the 4th quarter.

You gotta catch it first to “punch it in the face”. Something tells me this 09 Tomcat team may have a taste for it though.

 

These senior Tomcats have NEVER beaten a Raceland varsity team. This game will be their final crack at the Rams…I hope they can make every play count. It will take 100% effort to beat Raceland…it ALWAYS does.

 

Ashland cruised last week against GC…Raceland had to come from behind in their dramatic win. The Tomcats will need to come out blazing from the opening kickoff and set the pace of this game. Raceland’s intensity level, if it carries over (and it will), needs to be met full force by every Tomcat that steps foot on that field.

Ashland overall speed, Linemen play should equal win, unless Ashland pass coverage is weak. Ashland by +14
