I know I have heard from many Ashland fans that this game should never be on the schedule because it's a no win situation for Ashland. I disagree. Raceland has shown that they are a better team than just about every other area team the last few years. Should Ashland quit playing all the local schools? I think we all know the answer to that. This is always a good game financially for both schools. It's also always a good, exciting game for the fans of both sides to watch. Unfortunately it hasn't been a good game as far wins and loses for the Tomcats the past 3 years. I'm confident that Coach Hart, and the Tomcats will get that corrected this week. I look for it to be another exciting game to watch.

I agree with everything you said, except the predicted score or course. This game is a win/win situation for both schools. Raceland is going to see one of the best teams on their schedule, and improve because of it, win or loose. Ashland is going to see a good team, that has about a 50/50 run/pass offense, which will prepare them for facing teams in their district, like Woodford County, and teams in the playoffs. Plus you can obviously see the playoff atmosphere for this game, that will get both teams ready to play in the post season. Financially, both schools benefit. And for the fans, it is obviously a good show, because the crowd gets bigger each year.

Although the avatar conversation is riveting...here's an interesting thing I came up with off of the KHSAA website (I know, I am a statistical geek who loves looking at the numbers). Here's each team's record since 1990 (that's as far back as I could find) going into Friday night's game:

 

Raceland 139-78 (64% of games won)

Ashland 138-88 (61% of games won)

 

It's interesting that the 2 teams are so close.

The Rams #14 Qb is the best I have seen in area so far this year.

I won't argue with you on that Blackshirts. He was very impressive last week. This week is a true test for him. He'll have a must faster and stronger pass rush coming at him and better DB's as well.

It's was nice to see #14 have a strong performance. It has to be hard on him or any kid for that matter that has been groomed and poised to take over the snaps and then a transfer comes in and threatens to take the spot...I guess this may be a factor on why he played so well; not ready to give up his spot as QB 1 just yet. I know the season just started but I am quite curious to see how this plays out and if we will still be bragging on #14 come late October early November...(I would like to think we will be)
