I think a slick, muddy field still gives the advantage to the offense. Think about it, they know where they are going and can try to prepare for the cut/move. The defense has to remain on the guess or react mode. I don't see rain as an excuse for Ashland.

So easy to talk proudly of your team on a year when you know your opposing team lost a lot to graduation. I agree Ashland is very good this year,And they should have the advantage. But, you can bet one thing for sure. The Rams will show up and give you everything they have until the final horn sounds. If the Tomcats win, then congrats to them, but you don't have to tell us Ram fans about "SHOWS", we've marched into "PUTNAM STADIUM" for the last 3 years and put on a "SHOW". Does anyone know if the game is tonite or tomorrow. Word has it there's a big chance of rain, wouldn't want to mess up that pretty field!!!:madman:

 

Gosh…where should I start with this one? Yes, Roll, we are proud of our Tomcats…win, lose or draw, and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with our opponents. Whether or not Ashland has a “good year” remains to be seen.

 

If there is one thing we all know about any Raceland football team, the Rams never ever quit. Even when they haven’t been fortunate enough to win at Putnam, their performance was courageous and relentless.

 

And yes…we know very well about the SHOWS Raceland has provided for our entertainment the PAST THREE YEARS. All Tomcat players, coaches and fans remember them well.

 

Now…as for your comment about the field. It is indeed a pretty one and it has already endured over a dozen games thus far (middle school, jv, frosh, JFL)…so, it’s been ruffed up a bit and won’t be as pristine as you may be accustomed to on opening weekend.

 

I interpreted Tomcat4life’s comment about the “Show” as one directed as mutual entertainment…not that we were going to school the Rams. Even it was though…you got one coming buddy, and this might be the night.

Although I am relieved to not be in the center of your bullseye, I think Ram is just stating that if you leave it all on the field, you can't lose, i.e. that is what makes you a winner, leaving it on the field. Besides, if it takes something on BGP's to motivate the Tomcats, you guys are really not focused on the game at hand. JMO

You hear that Rams, 12 points. How long does it take you all to score 12 point? Maybe five minutes. Don't take this the wrong way Rams, you will need much more then 12 points. Ashland will score, don't get down, like last week, keep working and play your game. If you have the Fire, Heart, and Desire, you will become a better team no matter what the score is. Well Rams, you are in a familiar situation, you are the underdogs. You trail in this poll 66 to 28. Almost everyone has picked against you in the Eastern Kentucky Contest. Likewise, all most everyone has picked against you in the Pick 10 contest. Expect the news paper tomorrow to, unanimously, pick against you. We've been here before. What are you going to do?

 

Well, I am just going on the information set in front of me. When 9 out of 10 people are saying you are going to lose, that makes you the underdog. And, that happens a lot to Raceland. And any wins that happened before August 28, 2009 have absolutely no barring on this game.

 

Don't listen to them Rams, they are spreading propaganda, trying to make you think you are going to come into Putnam and have some easy game and win without a monumental effort. That is the furthest from the truth. Ashland wants to hang 52 points on you, just like they did Greenup County. They want to embarrass you. They want you to never come Putnam and win again. They want everyone to know they beat you, and beat you badly. What are you going to do about that?

 

The Independent is 5 for 5. All of their prognostication team has picked Ashland to beat Raceland. I would say that makes Raceland the underdog. Everyone knows that Ashland is good, and a loss for Ashland in this game would be an upset.

 

Now Rams, go and make history. Take a victory from the clutches of defeat (again).

It's supposed to rain all day. How does a muddy field effect a speedy Ashland team?.....do the wet conditions change the game any? Can Raceland be effective passing in the rain with a slick ball? Will Ashland's speed be negated on a slippery field?

 

 

Good questions Red. The field should not be muddy, but it will be wet. This will impact the speed of both teams so, IMO, it’s a wash.

 

I think your question about the passing and ball slickness has more relevance than the speed issue. Mainly because I believe it will take a balanced attack for Raceland to make it FOUR IN A ROW against the Tomcats. The Rams still have solid backs even though they lost Denton and Carver…we will see evidence of that tonight I’m sure.

 

Speaking of passing…will Rister play qb tonight? Anyone willing to tip a hand?

I know come 10:30ish tonight we'll all be back to posting together and not against each other. I am glad to "spar" with you this week but I have to tell you, it is much more fun posting with you and not against you.

It might slow you down some, but it slows everyone. This gives the advantage to the player that knows the play and is running the route or carrying the ball.

You know all this BGP posting is for all us has been's and never were's. I promise you, neither team is or could possibly be in need of our pep talks to get ready for this game. Ram does get me fired up, though. I tape so much faster due to his motivational speeches.:lol:
