Raceland had better come to play friday! Ashland is one the best teams they will see this year, and it will only get better. I believe Ashland owes Raceland a little something and the Tomcats are ready to dish it out. Raceland will need to pack a lunch box for this one! It Should be a Show.

I have told many, if you are going to pick on Raceland, you better do it this year because there is a lot of young talent coming.

 

From all that I've heard, Ashland feels good about their upcoming classes as well. So does Russell, for that matter. It should make for some good area football rivalries for the next few years and that's a good thing.

Yes, you are correct. I have heard the same from people at all three schools. Ironic isn't it? You have posted regarding these being consistently the top schools in the area year in and year out. Now, all 3 schools have a lot of talent coming for the next several years.

I think it's good for the area to have all 3 schools be good year in and year out. Since they are in different classes, they never get in each other's way in the playoffs. The good competition and "playoff environments" can only help when the playoffs come around.

I agree totally. Playing for backyard bragging rights is fun but in the end, it is good for everyone. I'll use Newport Central Catholic as an example. 2006, we played them in the Regional Championship game and they were 7-5 and we were 11-1. Although they had started the season 0-5, they were playing strong and sometimes bigger NKY schools. When it came playoff time, they rolled over the competition. This is what Raceland is trying to do by playing the Ashland's and the Russell's and big schools in the area. We have to be prepared for the LCA's and the Beechwood's of 1A if we ever want to bring home the hardware.

I agree there is value in playing strong competition. Often a team learns more from a loss than a victory - especially early in the season.

Rams fans, check out the College football thread regarding Georgetown football. They are reporting that Georgetown will only keep 3 or 4 Freshmen on the roster, the rest will be red-shirted. Not only is Robby Logan one of the boys being kept, he has been named the starting left tackle.

Well, I am just going on the information set in front of me. When 9 out of 10 people are saying you are going to lose, that makes you the underdog. And, that happens a lot to Raceland.

 

When one lemming says “follow me” they all run off the cliff too. Besides, those 9 people probably don’t know the situation as well as you and I.:sssh:

 

And any wins that happened before August 28, 2009 have absolutely no barring on this game.

 

True…but there is relevance in the past three consecutive victories Raceland has enjoyed over the Tomcats. The Rams are not rebuilding…they have reloaded. Raceland’s cupboard is far from bare.

 

Don't listen to them Rams, they are spreading propaganda, trying to make you think you are going to come into Putnam and have some easy game and win without a monumental effort. That is the furthest from the truth. Ashland wants to hang 52 points on you, just like they did Greenup County. They want to embarrass you. They want you to never come Putnam and win again.

 

Where has there ever been a game between Raceland and Ashland which did NOT require a monumental effort from the victor? These games are always bloody and the players do leave everything on the field. Would Ashland want to “hang 52 points” on the Rams…you bet…but I draw an extreme line when it comes to “embarrassing” any Raceland team. We do agree that I hope the Rams never come to Putnam and win again though.

 

The Independent is 5 for 5. All of their prognostication team has picked Ashland to beat Raceland. I would say that makes Raceland the underdog.

Actually Ram…Raceland has ALREADY made history…twice! You guys must be getting greedy for chapter 3. That happens to winning programs like Raceland…you have many valid reasons to expect another win over Ashland…and you have earned each and every one of them.:thumb:
