From the sound of things I think Raceland maybe glad they didn't get Ashland on the opener this year. Ashland seems to have winning on their minds.

Now calm down people, some of you think Ashland is going to win the Super Bowl now...

It's the first game and GC is still rebuilding, time will tell. good win for the Tom-Cats, GC keep working your time will come.

Greenup has a few things to work on, but they never gave up last night. We are still proud of our Musketeers.

Congrats to Ashland. You deserve a nice week off.........

Another positive point from Greenup side, GC Fans really showed up. I hope it stays that way all year long.

I think Carter only got 3-touches, one for a 20-yard TD run. A score like this would make you think some individuals must have racked up the stats, but that wasn't the case. A lot of different Tomcats made big plays. The defense scored twice.

 

I think QB Sam Hunter is going to have a break-out year this year as a sophomore.

 

I'm impressed so far with the O-line. Proc Robinson did a good job at center. He had to make a lot of shot-gun snaps and there were no bad snaps. Ben Stringer did a good job and helped block the punt that resulted in a TD.

 

Swift, Royalty, Hardy, Withrow and Petrella all had good games. There were so many who did well, I've probably left someone out.

Hey Coup I got bad news.....One game and already some rumblings in the crowd about the coach. How sad is that after one game? Like I said a few weeks back we got a good coach, it's just a matter of giving him a chance. People need to be understanding and give him some time, it's not like he took over the best team in the district.

 

All in all I thought the team showed great effort but was hurt by bad line play. We just got man handled up front, which hurts bad with the type of offense we are trying to run. Until it improves this could be a long year.

 

Great game by Lyle other than that not too many more brite spots.

If the coaches had switched teams, I imagine Ashland would have still won by 44. The bottom line is they have better players this year. If they stay the course, I bet Greenup will be competitive with most of the teams on their schedule this year. You just watch the type of season Ashland is going to have.

That is the sad part, most fans in Greenup do bail after one loss. I was at the game last nite and was surrounded by at least 12 dads and 2 moms who knew for a fact they could get out there and do it better. It's times like those that make it hard to be associated with Greenup sports. Everybody always thinks they have the answer to fix things, but never recognize when good things around them are happening. Hate to use it but here it goes...."Rome was not built in a day."

He needs some time to get settled in. Although I did question the playcalling myself, when they called a dive on a 4th and like 20 when Ashland had 8 and 9 guys in the box. This has been Greenups problem for years. The playbook has never been that balanced to begin with but when you run the ball 45 times out of 46 plays its not that hard to stop. You know it, I know it, therefore I'm sure the other coach knows it. Stack the box, stop the run, game over.
