Ashland 51 Greenup County 7

Featured Replies

Greenup County scores the first TD of the game, and the Tomcats proceed to score 51 unanswered. Congrats to Ashland on the win. I hope that Greenup County keeps their heads up, keeps the positive attitude all season, and improves game to game.

Congratulations Tomcats! There is a lot of talent on this team - including a lot of young talent too.

Greenup Co.'s players, coaches and fans are doing the right kinds of things. Keep it up and good things will happen for your program.

Just as I expected, I was at the game. Runningbacks looked tough, quarterback looked poised and comfortable, and receivers made plays.

Can't ask for much more as a tomcat fan. Congrats.

Ashland is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year. Greenup County is heading in the right direction- as long the fans and players don't give up their preseason enthusiasm they will build themselves into a winning program in time. There are going to be bumps along the way but the journey makes the destination that much more enjoyable once you get there.

This has been Deep Thoughts with Red Rambler.

Congrats to the Tomcats on the win, certainly no suprise here. Ashland is absolutely loaded! I guess this backs up everything all of us Raceland guys that have been saying since last season ended. This could very well be a very special season in "Tomcat Nation".. I hope that the mighty Tomcats get upset next week by a small, class A school about 6-8 miles down the road that will be a monumental underdog :D. After next week, I hope that you run the table and go 14-1.

It's already a special season. It's the first time the Tomcats won the first game of the season in 4 years. Of course they didn't have to play the state powerhouse Raceland Rams in the 1st game this year. Ashland hopes to just keep it competitive next week. :sssh::popcorn:

Greenup County......keep your heads up, far better things are on the way. GC players stay positive and GC fans/parents please do the same and support your new coach and program. Should all pull together then you will no doubt like the end results from it if not then you know where that ends up. JMO and good luck to the Musketeer's :thumb:..................except for on 9-11.:sssh:

:ohbrother: :isurrender: :lol::lol: and you guys call us sandbaggers.....you have just surpassed anything we could come up with. :notworthy:

Who's the sandbaggers now? Who wants to question what Ram Nation has been saying all summer? We may not know much, but we know football.

Congratulations to Ashland, they looked very good, and looked confident. They did not look like they were playing their first game of the season. Hunter played poised, Albner was a beast, and will continue to be. Carter didn't get as much carries as I expected, but he made the best of what he got. The only real question for Ashland is their kicking game, they need to develop that before the post season, but otherwise, a good start.

Greenup fans, I expect to see the say enthusiasm now, that I saw all summer. Your team needs it, and will get better. They need better line play, that is the big weakness, I know they have some players out, but line play is needed. I saw some good spots from them. Lyle is running hard, and will lead this team to better things. Good luck to Greenup County.

I guess the Raceland fans (and throw this Russell fan in with them) knew what they were talking about after all. To me, this isn't an indictment of Greenup's new program. This happened because Ashland is a very solid 5A team this year.

The Raceland fans who know football might not say it, but I am sure they know this result could easily be repeated next week. A team as good as Ashland is this year out for revenge is a very dangerous thing.

Nice to see the Greenup kids didn't give up. I think Copley found of few things to work on. Very nice Ashland team. Now GC back to work and get ready for Red Devils.:thumb:

Ryan, Ashland looked like world beaters tonight, now that is partly due to Greenup County rebuilding their program, but a big part of it is because Ashland is very good, not big, but very good. And yes, it could happen again next week, the Ashland fans know it, the Ashland players expect it, and the Raceland fans fear it. I just hope the Raceland players want to prevent it.

Not to stray from this postgame thread, but I do hope that Raceland has a good showing and shows evidence of fixing the "attitude problems" we've heard about tomorrow night for their sakes. Russell reportedly had some "attitude problems" last year and walked into a buzzsaw at Ashland. That's a bad combination...a team with questionable character and a fired up juggernaut. It led quickly to Russell laying down and nearly visibly quitting because Ashland beat them into submission.

Anyhow, even though Greenup took this beating tonight, I still expect them to come to Russell positive next week. It should be a good game.

Tomcats looked GREAT tonight. I guess my prediction was right. GC, better luck next week. Ashland was just too much to handle. :dancingpa

Ryan, I absloutely agree with you. I just hope that Raceland can stay remotely close and most of all get out of Putnam Stadium with no injuries.
