Is there a web site to all the games? I have co-workers who have kids playing for Summit View and Turkeyfoot and I know quite a few kids who play for the different CovCath teams.

While it is the CovCath youth football team web site it has a ton of information about the league in it.

 

BTW I loved the pictures of the kids getting their jersey's from their Dad and or Moms. Great idea, and you can see the pride in the kids and Dads faces.

Let me ask you this then. What is a 7th grader at St. Mary's who has never played football before supposed to do?

 

Should he:

1. Play Red Devils where he may not see the field due to its competitive nature.

2. Get information about the CCYFL and find out that only Campell County Schools students can play.

3. Not play football because Brossart could use it as a recruiting tool so that he becomes a Mustang in the future.

 

You all don't seem to be getting what I am saying. I have no problem with these schools deciding to have Middle School teams. I mean it is a very smart thing for them to do. The players get to get to learn their system at an earlier age, and there is just a lot of benefits of playing Middle School football. So if a school is going to be aloud to have a Middle School team even when they don't have an actual Middle School. Then they should do it because it is a smart thing to do, because in the end it will help get kids in the system and help keep them there for high school.

 

My whole thing is that I don't think a school SHOULD BE A LOUD though to have a Middle School team. I mean the first thing about schools is academics correct? Then that kid represents that school on the football field. Well those kids who play for like CovCath are not Covington Catholic Colonels. They are St. Agnes, and all the other schools. A school should not be able IMO to have kids who are not even in their school system to be able to represent them, because it is recruiting. Its letting them represent them even when they are not in that school. Which will in turn help them out when they get to high school. If a CovCath, etc. feel the need that they should have a Middle School team, then they should build an actual Catholic Middle School for those kids to attend. Until then the kids at the Catholic schools could just go play for a youth football team. Its not like they don't have options of where to play football if a CovCath doesn't have a Middle School team. I mean for most of the kids that do play for CovCath Middle School. I believe most are in the right area where they can play for the Spartans youth football team, and the Spartans are a great program and they will learn how to be good football players. So either Catholic schools should be forced to just build a Catholic Middle School then, or just not have a Middle School team. Those players would have other teams they could play for, so its not like they would be having to give up football.

 

Its really not that complicated IMO. I am all for Middle School football because it is a good thing. However you should have to have a Middle School, if your going to have a Middle School team. The schools who decide to have Middle School teams who don't have Middle Schools only do it for their benefit and their benefit only. Its not like when they come up with the idea they say we need to do this because these kids need places to play. They do it so the kids learn their system at an earlier age, and better chance that kid stays with the program after they are already in it. Its for their benefit only, and is basically like a recruiting tool. So IMO it just shouldn't be allowed. If you want a Middle School team, then just build a Middle School. So kids who are actually at your school for academics, would be the ones who are playing.

I vote he SHOULD play for the Red Devils. I have seen many,many middle school games and I will say that the quality of coaching does not even begin to compare with that of the Red Devils organization.

 

Why knock the Red Devils for being competitive? Score is also kept in the middle school league, right? And they have a playoff?

 

 

Brossart would have been well served by steering their future players to the Red Devils. They would save a ton of cost associated with starting up a feeder program all the while benefitting from great coaching.

 

If you want your kid to learn from the best coaches, have them play for a tradition rich organization, and have them challenged to be the absolute best they can be--then go Red Devils.

 

If you want your son to get a grass stain on his uniform simply because he signed up, then put him in a T-shirt league, like middle school.

First let me be clear, I am not knocking the Red Devils organization. They do a fabulous job building good young men and football players. I am just saying it is not for everyone.

 

I think your bashing of the middle school league is unfair. These boys work just as hard representing their schools. The main reason that my son plays for CCMS and not Red Devils is that he plays Select Soccer as well (not just to get a grass stain on his uniform). Come watch a CCMS game. You will see some really good football.

Futurecoach, you stated they are not Colonels,how wrong you are.

The oldguy know want I mean,these kids are born Colonels,99% of these boys know from the 1st grade.Go by St.Agnes,Blessed Sac.,St.Puis,St. Joe's and a few at IHM ,St. Paul's and they are wearing Cov.Cath . Also all of these schools are in the Catholoc school system,just as Woodland or Summit View are part of the Kenton County system.

The only thing different is that the public schools have 100-150 boys in a class, the catholic schools have 25-35 boys.The only way the Catholic Middle schools can field a team is to group together.As for the current team 78 attend Catholic grade school and two are going to attend CovCath, so there parents felt it was a good way to meet future classmates.

As for FRONT ROW, you now nothing of the caliber of play at the middle schools.

I have seen kids play in Boone, Nkyfl and the middle schools.

If CovCATH#1, Woodland or Campbell Co play in Nkyfl,they not only would compete,but I believe would win, and yes I now about your beloved Red Devils

I think what futurecoach is trying to say is that these catholic middle schools should be allowed to field teams, and that it's OK that multiple schools create a team. His problem is that these teams should not be named CovCath. Woodland is Woodland, not Scott. Turkeyfoot is Turkeyfoot, not Dixie. The teams should be affiliated with their middle school that they currently attend, not the high school that they might attend.

Ok so if your a catholic school kid and want to play football what do you do?

 

1. Play for a youth league team, NKYFL or BCPWFL

2. Play for the feeder program for the High School Teams, Cov Cath, NCC, Holy Cross or Brossart. (each of these High School Teams have a middle school feeder.)

 

I dont really get the argument for the catholic kids grouping together the grade schools to play as one middle school team. (Dont they eventually combine anyways for High School?) Also why just bash Cov Cath here, there are 3 other schools doing the same thing.

 

Also being that no one has brought this up, the catholic district has made it clear (over and over again) that any kid that attends a Catholic School with in the district, can play for ANY of the catholic feeder teams, there is not a direct district for each team.

Is Newport going to have to move up some eight graders to fill in, because the numbers are so low on the fresh team. How will that effect the middle school team.

I think we now know why you are so upset at Cov Cath. The spartans have lost a lot of their players. Are they only losing players to Cov Cath?

 

Again, read the post that talks aboutr class sizes. There is no way that any of the feeder schools has enough boys on their own. So, rather than calling them a Cov Cath team, if they called them Blessed Sacrament, or one of the feeder schools, you would have no problem??
