Ford the last three or four years has greatly improved quality.

If i'm not mistaken the camary and corrolla had more recalls than fords entire line last year. (im looking for a link now)

 

Why does everyone have a bad taste for American owned automakers? Usually because they get front page exposure when there is a problem. If you look at recent Toyota and Honda recalls (and yes there have been a few!) you are lucky if you read about them in the back of the want ads. Conspiracy? Favoritizism? Payoffs? who knows - you decide.

 

That being said, I'd still never own a Dodge, well maybe a Challanger R/T

 

I don't think anyone can argue with your initial statement. Toyota's quality has definitely slipped some the past few years, while Ford's has increased. However, over the last 20 years, Toyota's (and Honda's) quality and reliability has been much greater than any of the US automakers. IMO, Ford is slowly digging itself out of a hole to compete with Toyota and Honda, but it's going to take time since quality and reliability are measured on miles. People aren't going to change their opinions overnight.

Like I said I have bought 4 new Japanese autos. Starting back in 90. Oh and also had a 76 Celica used. Not one ever left any kind of a spot on my driveways. Buy a Dodge and my driveway looks like I might want to consider drilling..

We have 2 Honda Accords and a Toyota Corolla. We just never had luck with Chevrolet or the Ford Taurus we purchased. The power steering unit leaked in the new Chevrolet and they could never fix the problem.

I have had a Dodge Ram and had no problems, until recently. Had to replace the wheel baring and will now need to put a new clutch in it, but outside of that, she's been perfect.

I love my new Ford Focus. I already drove it to Colorado and back...no problems! 37 mpg highway, 34 city.

The title of this thread should be "I Bought American and Lived to Tell About It".

What I can't figure out is how anyone could buy American .......why would the owners of this countrys government (China and Japan) let us :ohbrother: :sssh:.

Never buy American cars. They are terrible. Toyota or Nissan is the way to go.

You should have bought a Ford or GM, Dodge on average sucks.

I have a 2007 Chevy Impala and absolutely love it. I get around 32 MPG on the hwy, getting 28 mpg all the time, great ride, comfortable and no problems. I had a Subaru (wife still has one, and we love them), had a Toyota and really liked it. But decided to buy American for the first time in several years 2 years ago when I bought the Impala. I have not regretted it for one second!

Between family, friends and myself I've been around a lot of different brands. Toyota has been far and away the best vehicles bar none! Mom and dad's Avalon is around 200,000 miles and still runs nice. I used to have a 4Runner and absolutly loved it! Friends Fords broke down and Dodge has been the worst by far. I agree that the Lexus is very nice if you can afford it.

Weird, I had nothing but problems with my Acura(honda). Apparently Honda is still trying to figure out how to build an automatic transmission.

Oh you can always get a lemon with any brand. Honda knows transmissions, unfortunately you got a poor quality one. I hope it worked out for you in the long run.
