You took a shot across the bow of the boat. Explain to me why you think they will faulter. Is your arguement that they won't play like a team because of all the talent on this squad? Would Guyn be happy to share the spotlight?

 

I see them getting out of the region this year. After that you need a little luck on your side to go along with the talent!

 

Dont get me wrong, I do think they have a lot of good talent. At the same time, there is only 1 ball to go around. Can they share it and the spotlight. Not to mention, I think there are certain players on this team that will take a step back, in other words, people will catch up to them talent wise, and they will get beat.

 

Im not saying they wont make the sweet 16, I just dont think they will finish number 1 or 2, and possibly not 3.

Ah, come on. You have to play with the kids you put on the floor. They didnt win, so they did faulter. Injury or not, they did not do what was expected of them. And, I am sure that if you ask Jackson, Guyn, Euton and the others if they could win those games, they would have surely said yes.

I certainly don't have the reputation on here of being a Scott County supporter, but I wouldn't describe their loss in the regional final as "faltering" down the stretch. Their best inside player was lost to an injury and they had a questionable call go against them that led to the game-winning free throws in the final seconds.

They didn't falter, the injury to Phares in the regional tourney, is what really hurt them from winning the region.

Phares was a senior last year, last I hear he was walking on at Louisville.

Scott County should be rated preseason 1 or 2, with Holmes being right there in one of those spots. They develop good players within their system and more importantly top talent gravitates to their program (a luxury that very few other programs can count on). All that said I would not predict that they will falter. What I will say, and it is a testament to how tough the 11th region is, is that since Scott County has moved to the 11th region, they have only made to the Sweet 16 once. They won the State Championship that year. They have been favored most years and did not make it out of the 11th.

 

When they were in the 8th region, they got used to playing in the sweet 16 on a regular basis.

Chris Harrison's son has moved out of state.

Has school started at Hazard and Shelby Valley? It will be interesting to see if Whitaker is at either school.

1. Holmes

2. Scott Co.

3. Eastern

4. Shelby Valley

5. Clark County

I don't see how you could call injuries a excuse? As I stated before I know all too well how they can effect the dreams you have for the season. Not an excuse , but a fact that some teams have to deal with. Why some want to fail to acknowledge this is beyond me.

Holmes is not without loss either. Seven players last year played major mintues and 4 are gone. This includes their floor general and most underrated player (Riley). Holmes will no doubt be in the running for a state title but you can't mention the Card's graduation loss without mentioning the Bulldog's.

You can't forget that Holmes is bringing in a very experienced senior in Avery. He would have easily been the leader at Conner. He will now add tremendous depth to an already stacked Holmes roster. Most schools don't get the opportunity to bring in seasoned players.
