Are you serious? Of all the info in that post you pulled out the little tidbit about AAU. I just said that situation reminded me of an AAU situation. I was necessarily comparing AAU and high school ball.

 

Bottom line is, that Scott Co. team is loaded. They didnt lose because Phares wasnt there. They lost because they got beat. So, to say well "Scott Co. lost because... Phares got hurt"... that is an excuse my friends. Deal with it, accept it, and get over it.

 

So what you are saying is losing a 1st team all stater should not even be mentioned when discussing why Scott Co. didn't win a region or state title? Losing Phares is not the only reason for the loss. Scott Co. lost by 1 point and I am sure they are looking back and thinking if we had only done this or that they would have won the game. But its not far-fetched to believe Scott Co. would have won with Phares in the lineup. In the regular season game according to the 2 teams Phares had 26 pts and 16 rebounds according to the bgp thread on the game.

I think it is pretty silly to think that losing Phares didn't have a huge effect on Scott County losing to Lex Cath last year. I am a Holmes fan and was glad they didn't have to play Scott County again in Lexington. I think they could have beat them again but it made the tourney a lot easier not having to face them again.

I believe thats the game everyone in the state (other than the teams standing in the way of that game) wanted to see. It would have been huge IMO.

So what is the point in talking about what could have been. There are other teams that could talk about what could have been in the 11th region tourney. Foul trouble also keeps key players off the court. Bottom line is Scott Co. got beat. They have not dominated the 11th like they did the 8th. If you talk about overall record against regional opponents they have been dominant. If you are talking about regional titles, no they haven't. Thats to be expected. The 11th region has been the best region in the state the last 4 or 5 years.

Two of the years they didnt make it they were beat on a last second shot and a questionable call both in the finals.Its not like they have been blown out in the 11th region tourny. In the regular season Scott County pretty much has dominated the 11th region. Scott County is still today the game every other team marks on the calender as the "it" game.

Talking about top teams and Catholic, What teams are in the 5/3 tourney this year? We know the King of the Bluegrass tourney is loaded.

I figure I will edit my list slightly.

Holmes is not without loss either. Seven players last year played major mintues and 4 are gone. This includes their floor general and most underrated player (Riley). Holmes will no doubt be in the running for a state title but you can't mention the Card's graduation loss without mentioning the Bulldog's.

 

They lost 3 contributors from last season, and the only one I think that can't be replaced is Riley. Rice is more than ready to step in and start, he could of last year, the you have Avery coming in. If he is eligible this what their starting five might be:
