Best: Coach tossed me the first red shirt (starting offense) my Sr. season at the end of an early season practice....... Completing an undefeated season.

 

Worst: Watcing the last few seconds tick away vs. Danville in 85' and the locker room afterwards.

Like Hatz, now I need therapy again.

Player:

Best - Playing on an undefeated team and scoring TD vs. Ballard in the playoffs at the old KFEC stadium - 1981.

 

Worst - Losing to Trinity the following week and leaving several layers of skin on the turf in the north end zone.

 

Coach:

Best - Beating Trinity as the OC of Doss in the playoffs - 1995.

 

Worst - Losing to Central in the final seconds as a 5 TD underdog by 1 point the following week.

As a player:

Best: Playing Beechwood in the '95 regional final and how packed the field was.

Worst: Losing to Raceland at home in the '97 first round a year after we had beaten them by 41 in the first round.

As a spectator:

Best: Watching NewCath seal the deal in '05 against Mayfield. Actually that whole playoff run was about as dominant as anything I've seen.

 

Worst: Watching the PAT go wide in the '01 final and seeing the look on my brother's face as he came out of the locker room after that game. Close second was last year's championship game, and watching Michael Vick Jr (in playing ability only, not personally) fly down the field for Ft. Campbell after the QB throwback.

 

I was at this game. That was my cousins senior year. The game was on of the nastiest weather games I've ever seen. Truly one of the greatest if not the greatest game Raceland has ever won! I shouldve put this one down as one of my greatest spectator moments. I was only in the 6th grade.

Best Memory: My Junior year beating Portsmouth 21-20. Portsmouth went on to finish as State Runners-up I believe. We were their only blemish until the Championship game. They were loaded with 2 D1 running backs and a great defense. The stadium at Greenup was packed and the crowd encircled the field atleast 3 and 4 deep in the endzones and up the sidelines to the players. Portsmouth scored with less than 5 seconds left and went for 2. The pass was caught but the receiver's foot came down about 1 1/2 feet out of bounds. Of course, the Trojan fans said he was in and that the officials blew it. The Saturday paper came out and the Portsmouth Times lead picture was the receiver and his foot coming down.........Out of Bounds!! It was a great Homecoming victory.

 

Worst memory: My Sophomore year at Portsmouth. We lost 58-0. Enough said.

 

 

Close "best memory" was my Senior year at home against Ashland. We lost 12-6 in OT but I think it was one of the most exciting games I played in during my senior year. Again, the crowd was huge and it was just a great atmosphere.

 

Close "worst memory" was tearing my knee up against Ironton. College football was out of the question then.........

I can't place a best and worst on the intangibles. Being one of the guys is priceless. But with this thread asking for best and worst, I'd have to go with real game experiences.

Being part of the team and having all the experiences that go with that, is indescribable in my opinion. That is what makes it so great, and is what makes the game experiences so great.

Best Memories: Two (2) TD's and over 100 yards in rushing from the sophisticated guard position (FB) against Evarts in the rain at the Evarts mud-bowl. Friday Night locker room (pregame). Saturday game days and starting as a True Freshman in college. ~ one more ~ even though they won, (13-7), in two quarters at the grid) playing "The Cawood Trojans" for the first time after not getting to play them for 20 plus years. The crowd was something to see. The good ol days!

 

Worst Memories: Loosing to Freddie Maggard and the Redskins on the last game I played at Green Dragon Field and this was one of them darn sub-district games when only one team came out of the sub-district.

Best: Scoring 5 TD's against Polk High School.

 

Worst: Marrying Peggy.
