The Dodgers have the young guys to offer so I wouldn't be real suprised if they don't make a move. They have a real shot to win it all with him. They do without but with him they will be hard to beat.

I'm not a big Andruw Jones fan nor am I sure he's much of an upgrade over Gomes for the 2nd half, but it would seem to fit for both clubs.

July 9, 200917 yr Holliday is not having a great year, he really needs out of that ballpark. I think the A's will take one known MLB guy and a prospect for him at this point. Angels/Phillies/ChiSox appear to be buyers for pitching.

Arroyo is giving up 14 baserunners and 1.8 homeruns per 9 innings against National League teams. How will that translate in the American League when he has to face a DH instead of a pitcher? Also in regards to Gomes, Jones--even though he's a shadow of the fielder he was with the Braves is still superior to Gomes. Also he has hit 14 homeruns in only 46 games and hits around the same average against lefties and righties. Plus the Dodgers are paying $3.7 million of his contract. It makes no sense for the Rangers to make that deal. Right now Arroyo has almost ZERO trade value--especially since he can't play the guitar with his carpal tunnel.

They said on the game tonight that they released a statement saying they would shop him in the division if the deal was right. I think the Dodgers are sitting in the best position to get him. I'd love to see him go to a contender. He's been so good on such bad teams. Today he said he just wants to win.

If they indeed mean that, and I'm not sure they are genuine when they say it, then both the Yankees and Red Sox would have more to offer than the Dodgers. The Sox have pitchers Michael Bowden, Clay Buchholz, Manny Delcarmen, Daniel Bard, Justin Masteron, Casey Kelly and Junichi Tazawa that are close to major league ready or in the majors. The Yankees have Joba Chamberlain, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera, Phil Hughes, Bret Gardener and others as well. Again, regardless of what they said I just can't see them trading Halladay within the division but if they actually will do so I can't see the Dodgers being able to outbid the Sox and Yanks if those two teams are willing to give up the young players to get him.

His performance and contract don't appeal to anyone at this point.

That said I don't know if they would be willing to trade away that much young pitching unless they were pretty sure they could lock up Halladay beyond 2010.

July 9, 200917 yr Sanchez would be a good fit on the field for several teams ... Cubs, Cardinals, Giants, Angels, Twins, White Sox and Marlins, that I can think of.
