Well the bill has died in the Senate. The leader of the Senate and most powerful man in KY continues to put a halt to progress.

Now the special session was a real waste of time and tax dollars. I place the blame on the Beashers and Williams.

I am disappointed that the slots bill died, but there is still more to be accomplished

Good. We do not need expanded gambling in Kentucky. Or, gambling period, for that matter.

So, you're ok if the horse industry and our racing industry dies?

So we should do away with gambling at horse races? And lottery tickets as well?

Do me a favor, step off of your soap box and give people the bloody choice with their money.

I mean if we are going to keep gambling illegal(which it really isn't in KY) we really need to outlaw all "bad" choices including the following that can also ruin people's lives or cause serious problems for them:

  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes
  • Pornography
  • World of Warcraft
  • Marriage
  • Caffeine
  • Contact Sports
  • Processed Food
  • Fast Food

Of course, because they aren't in a "moral" industry it is evil and they should suffer because it isn't in the bible.

Times like this I am reminded of a Mark Twain quote...

What I have trouble comprehending is this:

We essentially had a plebiscite for same-sex marriage but something like this which has a far more direct impact on the general population does not?

Where is the logic there?

Ky politics at its finest...............Williams is a joke.

It's obvious that some legislators care about nothing more than pulling votes. A horrible, cowardly decision by the Senate, which will irreparably harm the state. It's a shame the majority of the senators don't posses the same common sense that was exhibited in the House. Oh well, at least they'll keep their seats safe.

I agree..but what I don't understand is why Beshear was so against online poker sites (which are now again legal in the state after being outlawed).A little consistancy at the top would go a long way IMHO.

We have a lottery and horse racing industry in this state. People are going to gamble whether legal or illegal (rooster fights for instance). Once again we try to legislate morality, and it will fail gain due to human nature.

I just hate to see what effect this will have on the racing industry in the state.

Terrible Terrible decision .

You can now gamble in IN, WV, TN and soon to be OH. Gotta love seeing the possible income flying across the state line in every direction. What a joke.

Bye, bye ponies....

Anyone who votes for Williams to retain his seat deserves to lose their privilege.

The owner of Ellis Park as already said he is closing after this season if this didn't pass.
