I just added to it.

I didn't vote as I didn't read the bill. I am for allowing gaming but this bill may have been a piece of crap. I don't know because I didn't read it.

How accurately do you believe this portrays the state as a whole?
Any reasoning?

I will answer your question with a simple question.

If you were personally in a tight, bad economic times, would you look to gambling as an answer to your problems?

What does it say about our society that state after state, community after community and many athletic departments are looking at a revenue source from gambling as the answer to their economic issues?

It is a bandaid covering a gaping wound and simply makes everyone feel good about themselves instead of addressing real problems that require hard choices and answers. We are not willing to face up to that but rather want to be made to feel good by a politician telling us that slots are going to solve the problem. What happens when IN THIS HARD ECONOMIC TIMES people don't have any more money to put into the slot machines? Wonder what will happen to their bills when their money is going into the slot machines instead of into an envelope to pay their bills? Haven't we had enough of government buyouts of companies whose customers were not paying their bills because of overspending?

This wasn't a bill that made gambling a mandatory expenditure. Slots or even casinos in the state don't force anyone to gamble.

Personally- due to a tremendous combination of no luck and less skill- I view gambling as a waste of money. However, each and every one of us has the right to waste our money as much as we want, so long as we aren't infringing on the rights of others. People are either going to waste their money in Kentucky or out of Kentucky. Why not keep it here?

Until they can't pay their bills and we have to bailout the companies through our tax dollars.

I see government as being a solution and/or prevent to problems not a body that allows problems to continue to fester and grow until their is no solution to them. Unfortunately, I don't feel my view of government is seen by society today.

Why do we have to bail them out?

Premarital sex leads to unintended pregnancies and perhaps abortion. Shall we make it illegal?

Once again, government isn't enforcing a mandatory 10 hours a week spent at the slots. Anyone who wants to gamble can, and anyone who doesn't want to gamble doesn't have to.
