Not that this is the ultimate criterion of which team is better, but I believe I read that every kid on Indiana's roster was going to a "D1" school to play basketball whereas Kentucky had only two - Sanford to Georgetown U. and Hood to Kentucky. Perhaps there was a significant talent disparity this year.

 

 

Also Evan Faulkner. To PG80's point, there was a strategy to go small even at the forward spot and play Indiana that way since they didn't have their usual 7-footers. It looks to me like the KY team was built to showcase Jon Hood, maybe I can be corrected on that. There were some very good players not on the team, and there were some very good players on the team that did not get many looks. KY should keep playing IN and OH every year. It is a good event.

Again I say Eric Mosely from Moore High School should of been on the All-Star. Mosely is a true scorer and since KY only scored 49 it looks like they needed more scorers.

The bottom line is Kentucky needed a group of guys that could pressure Indiana. They needed to speed the game up. However they played a half court game with them. They knew the personnel of Indiana before the tryouts. This is why I believe the roster was not the best to beat Indiana. I like Wilson (Central), A.Wilson (Fulton Co), Hood, and Sanford in the system it would take to beat Indiana. As well as Mosley (Moore), Dowe (Eastern), and even one of the Faulkners.

I think you had to pressure Indiana and turn it into a pressure game, wear Hulls down. I really thought Brown and Jordan were the only penetrators Indiana had.

 

You pressure them full and make them play fast. You create points with defense and then you spread the floor and slash with everyone. Both Wilsons can do this.

 

But you have to have guys who can create and score and we did not have that. WE needed Mosley

I am not shooting down the idea, however, many of them are tied up with their AAU programs. I wonder if the games were earlier...early May or April if there would be more interest. The seniors are getting tied up with graduation events, and by June there are a lot of other things going on. Also, I would like to see the game at a better facility than it has been the last two years like NKU, Rupp or Freedom Hall.

I know he is originally from Indiana, but according to Scout, and Rivals he goes to Detroit Country Day High School, but I don't know for sure.

His father is originally from Muncie and was an assistant at Indiana before taking the U. of Detroit job last year.

Thats just a few guys that will probably make it and in that group there is a lot of long athletic players. Now this year if you add Richie Phares and Jacob Jenkins to the lineup then the games would probably be much different. Thats 2 of the top 5 seniors in the sta.
