GO CATS Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I enjoyed the article and it makes me hunger for basketball season in MAY...
DADDY CAT Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Yawn. Just not enough drama in it, I guess. Once you have the Pitino saga going full tilt, I guess a story like this is just boring....
train3399 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Yawn. Wow, considering your name maybe you shouldn't do work, it's making you Yawn way too much.
Blue Magic Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Excellent article. I wonder which other school's fan-base around the country have as much passion for their program as the UK Basketball faithful do?
dolamite Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Excellent article. I wonder which other school's fan-base around the country have as much passion for their program as the UK Basketball faithful do? Don't think there is one. Kansas, Carolina, and Duke fans are all very intensely passionate, but Kentucky is just on a level of its own. Think about this. Me and some friends were talking the other day (yesterday right after the Wall news to be exact) and this came up in the convo and personally I feel it is 100% how it is. Name another school other than Kentucky that has to go so far outside its threshold in order to satisfy its fan base. I mean we play at least one game in Louisville every year, and you don't see state schools like UNC playing any home games at Duke or Wake do ya? Furthermore, Indy is always wanting a game, Atlanta or shall I say Catlanta, Nashville, its just ridiculous. In all these places the cats are very much in demand, and that is something I doubt you will find anywhere else in the country and that is the type of passion that makes me bleed blue until the day I die.

Then you don't get out much. I live down here only 5 minutes from the North Carolina border. The Tar Heels are very fanatical and numerous. (Kind of like Yankee fans on the Eastern Seaboard from NY to Florida) UNC plays at Charlotte and Greensboro every year because of their fan base. The reason they don't play at Duke is size of gym and it's only 10 miles from the Dean Dome (hardly a reach out to the fan base. :sssh:) and Wake's gym isn't a lot better in size. (Besides they are already playing at Greensboro.) It's arrogance to assume no other major program can compete in fan base. I'm a HUGE UK fan down here in ACC land, but come on. :ohbrother: UNC fans can be just as arrogant, historical minded and passionate for their Tar Holes as UK fans, plus they have a lot more populace in their state with larger cities to go with the rural fan base following. (8.5 million to 4.5 million)
cardinalsvoice Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Yawn. Apparenly you just got back from watching next year's UofL basketball team's pickup game
