Track the Reds (Week 7)

Much needed victory. I am concerened about who Dusty keeps throwing out there, hopefully he will right the ship sooner than later as I love this team and want them to be in it for the long haul.

Hope the Votto news is good, but I'm weary of the wait.

Good win for the Reds... And a much needed one. Back to 3 games over .500 now.

As for McDonald... I have to say I agree. Send him down and bring Gomes up. Gomes can't do much worse.

Bruce needs to improve his selectivity for sure. He acts very unsure in the batters box for someone with his skills. I think he is still maturing. He was way too good of a hitter in the minors not to improve.

I think someone said it above, but Harang is a stud! So I second that motion.

As for Gonzalez at SS... I still haven't given up on him. I think Hairston is obviously playing better, but Gonzo makes some plays at short that Hairston just can't make. Time will tell on that one.

The Reds need a win tonight and get right back in this Central Division Race.

Played well last night. Big game for Owings. First start since a dominating start in AZ last week.

Big game today, a game they can win. Should be a great day at the park for afternoon baseball, wish I was there!

Great news on Votto. He has been diagnosed with an inner ear infection, and will be treated with medication, and start light workouts. He is day to day. I am very perplexed as to what took them so long to figure out that it was an inner ear infection that was causing the problem.

Hopefully that is all that it is really.

Phillies score one in the first, and lead 1-0 going to the top of the 2nd.

Owings struggilng with his control. He just walked Joe Blanton with two outs in the 2nd, for his 3rd walk. Rollins up with 2 outs.

And that's what you get when you walk the stinking pitcher. Utley with a 2 run single, and the Phillies lead 3-0.

Double by Ibanez, 4-0 Phillies.

59 pitches after 2 innings......stellar!!:isurrender:

This is from Lance's blog:

Time for some changes

Time to stop the silliness. It's insulting to baseball fans in this town to keep Darnell McDonald on the roster.

Good guy. Nice story. Can't play. He's become Dusty's Corey Patterson.

Last night started a stretch of the Reds playing five of their next seven games vs LHP.

Call up Jonny Gomes.(.387 vs LHP this year)..improve the bench...add him to Nix in LF.

Alex Gonzalez doesn't look like he can play...and I'm not sure he even wants to play. They owe him 5.3 milliion either way. I'd release him. He won't be back next year. He serves no purpose now.

His glove will go down as the most overrated glove in the franchise of this history.

Eyeball test says he's not better than Hairston or Janish in the field right now.

Play Hairston and Janish at SS til a better option develops.

Put Joey Votto on the DL. Take care of him. Play with a 25 man roster for the first time in how long?

I basically agree with everything he said. I think you can kind of consider Gonzo as this years Patterson as well. I mean if he is healthy Dusty is going to play him usually, even though he really does not bring much to the team at all anymore. I think the part that Lance said about the most overrated glove in history for the Reds is right on. Gonzo while he is still go at shortstop defensively, is nowhere near as good as he use to be. People don't seem to want to admit it, but the other guys we have who can play short are not that far away from Gonzo defensively anymore. IMO I just think the Reds as a whole is a better team when Gonzo is not starting.

By all accounts, I believe Owings is done:
