May 16, 200917 yr I will say this. I have had some pain in my upper left teeth the last few days, but I'm not sure if it is caused by the wisdom tooth or if it is another sinus infection. I had a sinus infection last year causing an upper right tooth to hurt severely. The reason I think it might be a sinus infection is because I was feeling a lot of pressure and had a bad head ache last night that went away after taking some sudafed. I have a doctors appointment scheduled today to see if I can find out whether or not it is sinuses causing the pain. If it is not, I'm going to assume it's the wisdom tooth. Get it done ASAP the younger the better, It is a tough 48 hours but then you won't have to ever deal with it again.

May 17, 200917 yr Your thinking into the dry socket way too much. You have a MUCH better chance of getting an infection than dry socket. I had 4 impacted ones pulled a few years ago and one got infected, it hurt but they gave me a wash and an antibiotic. The biggest issue I had was the excessive bleeding, I swallowed so much blood I kept puking after. If your having all 4 out, your done for a good 2-3 days, if your getting 2 out your still done for at least a day probably 2. It hurts and anyone who says it doesn't is lieing but its tolerable. Absolutely not true. And you can follow the post op instructions to the letter and still end up with dry socket. Happens far more than a post-op infection.
May 17, 200917 yr I had it done a few years back and I didn't think it was that bad at all. I never like being put to sleep but it's part of it. Just do what they tell you to do. I did make my wife pitch the pain pills after the 2nd day. I laid shivering on the couch..pale and in a cold sweat from withdrwal I think. I hated how they made me feel!
May 17, 200917 yr I have to agree. You can follow the dentist's instructions and still end up with a dry socket. I've had 2.
May 17, 200917 yr Had mine cut out 36 years ago, right before I went off to college. Pretty painful the first night, but didn't need so much as an aspirin after that. My mom didn't like the fact that I went swimming the next day; I guess she thought I was going to contract some horrible disease or something, but everything went fine. One thing I did find out on the day I had them removed - anesthetic does not work very well on me. I was up and walking around just a few minutes after the dentist was finished. He ordered me to go lie down and try to sleep for another hour.
May 19, 200917 yr I've had three come in that has been pretty much been painless and does not effect my other teeth. However, my fourth just started to cut last week, and I can tell that I may have some problems out of it, so I may have to get mine cut out as well.
May 20, 200917 yr Absolutely not true. And you can follow the post op instructions to the letter and still end up with dry socket. Happens far more than a post-op infection. Dry socket does occur in about 5% of all tooth extractions, I never said your protected from it, but if you follow post op instructions you should be ok, dry socket is an inflammation issue. Fact of the matter is if they take a scalpel to your gums like they did mine to cut them out the chance of infection is very realistic but it depends on your immune system as well. Sometimes people are given antibiotics before the procedure and after.
May 21, 200917 yr I went to the dentist today, and I only have to get my bottom 2 taken out. I get them taken out next week.:ohbrother:
June 3, 200917 yr I had no trouble having my wisdom teeth taken out at all. No pain, no dry socket, little to no swelling, just a lot of bleeding. Had all 4 taken out a once. Had a tooth pulled on Monday as well so now I have to go through the whole "watching out for the dry socket" again.
