Most 10 win seasons (30) and most 11 win seasons (17) 5 Heisman Trophy winners and 144 All-Americans Legendary coach? - Bud Wilkinson (145-29-4) and then there's Barry Switzer who was (157-29-4)

Texas and OU for all those years and thats it...nice try Roll Tide Roll! What was the "America" song? "Horse with No Name?" Actually OU was in the Big 8 the vast majority of history. Actually Texas was in the Southwest Conference for the vast majority of their history. They only met during the annual showdown as an interconference rivalry.
June 10, 200917 yr I enjoy these type of threads very much. I like to see people's opinions and to see the facts they use to back them up. From reading all the entries I am convinced now more than ever that a legitimate arguement could be made for any of the following programs: Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Alabama, USC, or Texas. I also think that a person could make an arguement for Miami, Nebraska, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn, and Georgia! Who has the best program is a question Im not prepared to tackle but I sure like to read the arguements of why they should be the best. Keep them coming....I need to be convinced!:thumb:

June 11, 200917 yr USC has titles in the late 20's and 30's, hows that unknown? They have plenty of history. As for Miami, the degrees are the same, the price is the same, but Miami is a poor school. Look at the size of USC and compare it to Miami. I guess I don't understand what a poor school is?? Miami and USC are both private, cost about the same, have about the same undergraduate enrollment, and have both lots of success on the gridiron in the last twenty five years. They are very similar and what do you mean by poor?

They are very similar and what do you mean by poor? The amount of funding. Miami is around the price to get into of an Ivy League school but it doesn't have the funding of other top private schools. USC has on average 34,000 students a year. They have private donations that reach up to 3.6 Billion dollars. Miami has 15,000 students, with private donations of around 750 Million dollars, which is similar to public funded UK. So we're not really talking about alot of money at a private school. Football team has been told it will travel by bus for most ACC games. By bus from Miami! Not even FSU is really close. Harvard has 19,000 students but an endowment of around 37 billion dollars. Duke has 14,000 students, and private donations that reach up to 4 Billion dollars. Miami is a private school, but it is small and really underfunded. The University has no football stadium it is not a rich school by any stretch of the imagination, though you probably have to be either rich, athletic or smart to go there. The football team doesn't generate as much money by having to rent out a stadium, and that has to be split and fund the other athletic programs. Miami doesn't really have the amount of students to have a lot of wealth, and doesn't have enough alumni to really support it as well. Without Coach Schnelly, there's a good chance the U doesn't even have a football program after 1980.
