I think Rachel Alexandra is a complete freak. With a good trip, these colts won't touch her. She's special guys, real special. To many people in the business say so. Speaking of ego's, there are no bigger ego's in the business than trainers. They are tight lipped when it comes to giving other horses praise, but not with this horse. Some have said, its the best filly they have seen since Ruffian. I don't recall hearing the same praise for Azeri or Rags to Riches. From what I hear and what I've seen of her, she's special.:notworthy:

But as a horse player at 8/5, I wouldn't bet her with your money.:D

Completely agree with the last part of the quote.

She deserves to be favored but to take a short price on a horse being asked to do several things for the first time (against boys, longer distance, 1st start at Pimlico, new trainer) is not they way I play the ponies. She may be a freak, she may be the best since Ruffian, she may draw off and win easily, but my money will be elsewhere.

I will take the overlay odds on Friesen Fire. His Derby was terrible off a 6 week layoff. I like that they are coming right back with him and he had a nice controlled 58 2/5 work earlier this week. I think we see the FF that we saw earlier this spring.

I could care less about the trainer. I just want to see him win so I can laugh at Calvin Borel!

I would put a good amount of money that RA will finish higher than MTB. MTB won because Borel rode him, no other jockey could have rode that race like Borel did.

Not arguing with you on that one!

I'm sure Borel would tell you the same thing.

That's exactly what several of the analysts and top jockeys have said. For whatever reason he's sure had some top rides in the Breeder's Cup and Derby in the past few years. He killed me in the derby but you have to give him his due.

Yeah, he's the Master of the Rail. It's funny too because in a presser the week before Derby Day, the jockeys were joking around saying "You're not getting the rail on us Borel, we're going to block it off" or something on the lines to that...I guess they forgot :thumb:

This could become one of the more interesting runnings of the Preakness that we've seen. Not only is it the first time that a Derby winner is getting dumped by his jockey for the Preakness, but we have a female favorite. Should be fun....

He did me too. I kind of want Mine that Bird to win though, because Borel isn't riding Mine that Bird .

You are my kind of man!

Rachel Alexandra to win with Musket Man and Take The Points underneath.

Horse of the year..

No doubt at this point.

Rachael was OMIGOD good in the Haskell today.

How a horse can lay just off of a 22 46 1:09 pace like that, and then blow away the field is pretty unnatural.

Reminds me a lot of Secreteriat. Sacraligious probably, but fairly factual. The others were pretty much eased up through deep stretch.

Calvin was his usual fired up self down the stretch and probably got a little too carried away (again), but I think he is a professional race-rider who realizes that he is riding a slice of greatness.

Watch him twirl his whip at the top of the stretch before striking her for ther first time. I've been around a long, long time and don't remember seeing another jockey ever do that. I think he knew at that point that he was sitting on a powder keg. I hope she remains sound!!!!
