NKYBOY1487 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Did you guys see this girl run in the Oaks? WOW. She looked amazing. Any chance she runs in the Preakness or Belmont? Im guessing not by Borel if so....
cammando Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I'd love to see her race with the boys.. I think she could hold her own..
gchs_uk9 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Could Rachel being held out of the Preakness or Belmont be residual effects of Eight Belles dying last year? I know there were some who expressed concern over fillies running in the big races. I'm not saying it's the case, just curious.
bugatti Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Rachel Alexandra put on a clinic at Churchill on Friday. She was being held back the majority of the race, and when let go she did a Usain Bolt to the rest of the field. I would love to see her in the Belmont.
The Professor Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Calvin Borel stated that if the owners decide to race her in the Preakness that he will ride her instead of Mine That Bird. She might have won the Derby if she had been entered. Borel certainly has high regards for her.

I don't think anyone would let him get off a Derby Winner. Not even Calvin would do that. Remember, just because he's the longshot doesn't mean he doesn't have a chance at Triple Crown. Mine that Bird still has a better shot than anyone else.
Big Slick Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I heard she wasn't running until the filly race before the Belmont.
Gunner11 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 The owners siad she would never run against the boys. Not to mention the 200K supplement at this point. I am hoping for a Zenyatta vs. Rachel Alexandra matchup in the Distaff this fall.
KyTiger89 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I would have loved to see her in the Derby. If you look at the times, they weren't all that impressive in the Derby IMO
Anvil Head Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I didn't realize she was from Paintsville. Half owner Mike Lauffer is from Paintsville.

Uh, he is the ONLY one that has shot.:thumb:
75center Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I read something about this being only the first or second time that the Oaks winner posted a higher Beyer figure than the Derby winner in the same year.
