I would say this series is not one of them.

 

Last night was the first time anyone on the team other than LJ scored 20 points. The last time a conference finalist went the first four games of the series with only one player cracking the 20 point barrier was the Bulls of the late '80's.

 

Cleveland finally stepped up and outplayed Orlando down the stretch. All of these games have been tight, and all have been decided by the team that played better in the last 6 minutes.

 

Daniel Gibson knocking down open the threes was huge.

 

I don't think Mike Brown is a bad coach, but he's not all that great either, IMO.

 

I think the Cavs should have rested Lebron more during the second quarter while they had the huge cushion. It was pretty obvious that they were stagnant and the lead was evaporating...I think I'd have used that opportunity to steal another minute or two of rest for LJ.

 

I think it's a mistake not to have Lebron on Hedo or Lewis from the tip.

 

And, I disagree with Chuck and Kenny about Cleveland's offense at the end of the game. I don't think it's that much of a strain on Lebron to catch the ball at the foul line and basically run the show. I believe he actually got a little break doing that because he'd hold the ball for 5-10 seconds every time. He's not doing it the whole game, just at the end. I don't see how that's asking "too much" of the best player in the game.

Cleveland has to keep pushing the ball and trying to get open looks in transition to take some of the burden off Lebron during the game. They need to do all they can to keep the game close and keep Lebron as fresh as possible for the stretch run.

 

 

 

Don't forget Reggie Miller agreed with them as well.

 

I agree with them though. That is a load to shoulder carrying his team like that. I also agree with what else they said, that if they do go to LeBron holding the ball and then creating and he is able to keep winning, then there is nothing anyone can do but go shake that man's hand. They base their beliefs on the fact that they have never seen anyone do this before and they don't think he can keep it up. They are "witnessing", but they aren't believing what they are seeing. I certainly think he is capable of doing the exact same thing as long as his teammates can score when he gets the ball to them. Whether or not fatigue becomes a factor remains to be seen.

I read that yesterday about the Bulls in 1989. That is a crazy stat, and really shows that Cleveland's supporting cast had not shown up prior to game 5.

 

I love LBJ at the foul line down the stretch. He does get more of a break, and he is very tough to guard there. If the shooters keep making shots it will be tough to defend.

 

I have said that about LeBron guarding Turkoglu all along. Hedu makes the Magic offense go with that pick and roll. He gets by with alot of contact, he wouldn't be able to do that to LeBron and if he could he wouldn't get by with it.

 

The key to game 6 is the Magic supporting cast. IF the Cavs can keep them in check they will be fine. Pietrus has to be stopped. You can live with Lewis, Howard, and Turkoglu making shots, because they are going to do that no matter what. When the role players get it going, they spread you way too thin. Cavs need to keep it close, make some shots, and take care of the ball.

 

I was pleased to see James knock the FT's down. That's been one of my biggest complaints against him. He was clutch last night. That was an example of a guy being clutch without having to drill a buzzer beater. He made big play after big play in the last 5 minutes.

 

And, I'm pretty sure everyone except Mike Brown thinks James should be on Hedo or Rashard. I know the guys on TNT have been saying the same things since Game 1.

Now if he could get just a little more talent around him, then his team would be unstoppable.

 

They need more athleticism.

But, whether it's ideal or not is irrelevant. That's what the Cavs have to do at the end of the game. They have to get the ball to James and let him score or create. Then it comes down to the other guys knocking down shots.

 

If Williams, West and Gibson can keep hitting open jumpers, the Cavs have a real shot to win this series.

Someone 6-6ish, plays defense and is either athletic or can shoot, either would be fine with me. Though they couldn't get him, Battier would fit nicely IMO.

It's not a stretch...they won one and had a great shot at two others with Lebron carrying the team on his back. With some help, they can win two more.

 

It comes down to getting that road win...I like their chances in Cleveland for a Game 7. I'm not quite so confident for the game in Orlando.

Sorry man. Cavs just kill me sometimes. I really don't think I could coach in the NBA, but I don't think that Mike Brown should either.

Give the Magic credit they have executed tonight. The Cavs have played STUPID basketball. You do not let Anderson Varajao shoot jumpers. You should never have the ball in his hands outside of 4 feet. The should have stopped trying to draw fouls on Howard in the 2nd quarter, it isn't going to get called tonight, the refs aren't going to decide this game, and rightfully so. And Wally should be forced into retirement.

I said that the Cavs benifited from two weak Eastern Conference opponents in Rd 1 & 2. It probably hurt them more than it helped, they've been outmatched in this series. Howard has killed them, especially tonight.
