April 12, 200917 yr Wow Bledsoe just pinned Snaer on a drive attempt... Very impressive. His defensive effort really picked up in the second half.
April 12, 200917 yr What do you think about Hood? He will be a solid Cat. On another note, ... his dunk from the dunk contest was just sick.
April 12, 200917 yr This was my first trip to Freedom Hall and it was a very enjoyable one to say the least. The game was good by high school all-star game standards in my opinion. Orton looked very good to not have played for the majority of this season, I was impressed with his quickness when going to the basket and his rebounding skills. Jon Hood was better than I had expected, I didn't get the opportunity to watch him during his time at Madsonville-North Hopkins but he really impressed me. Also, I liked the Jeff Shepherd jersey during the dunk contest. Peyton Siva is going to be a good player at Louisville, he is very athletic and has great court vision. The program had him listed at 6'0, but I stood next to him during warm ups when I was taking some pictures and he was a good three to four inches shorter than I am-I am 6'2. I would say 5'8-5'9 is accurate. Sosa should watch out, because he may not be the starting Point Guard when next season tips off. I was also impressed with Marra's athleticism, he seems like he may be a good pick up for Coach Pitino. As NKY said, Snaer was on a different level as oppsoed to everyone else, he looks to be a very good player and should make an instant impact for Leonard Hamilton this season. On another note, I was sitting on the end closest to the exit, behind the basket 6 rows up, my friend-who is also a BGP'er-mentioned that he saw a couple of people at the press table next to some of the NBA scouts on BGP during the game. GameTime, would that have been you? Overall, I had a very good time and plan on attending next year.
April 12, 200917 yr Just got in from the game, fun time, as usual. My thoughts on the UK (and potential UK) and UofL kids: Hood-Seems to have a great b-ball IQ. Good elevation on his jumper and a good athlete. He will be a solid four year guy. Orton-Bigger than I expected. Strong finisher, good rebounder. Seemed like a good passer too, maybe a little too passive at times. You could see the potential in him, but could tell that he hadn't played in a while. I think he will be a very good player though. The way he dunked the ball with authority reminded me of Jamal Maglorie. Dennis- I thought he was the least impressive kid in the game. Looked like a good athlete, but never seemed like he was "in" the game. Bledsoe-I really like his game. Had all the pg skills. Saw the court well, strong and a good defender. Not a lot of range, but could be a scorer. He would be a nice fit for UK. Siva-Very good pg skills. I thought he was the best passer in the game tonight. He really looked to set up teammates. Very athletic for a little man, not a great long range shooter. Marra-Very impressed with his overall skills. Good shooter (2nd in 3pt shootout) great athlete (won dunk contest). He has a long way to go on the defensive end, but should be a very good 4 year player for the Cards. Marra a Hood are very similar players. Very hard to believe Marra is not rated higher by the recruiting services. Buckles-WOW! As a Cards fan, I was very surprised with his game. Good range for a 6'8" kid, nice handles and a good leaper. He was better than I expected. Took the game over for a long stretch in the 3rd. Van Treese-Nothing too special here, and that's not a bad thing. Seemed like a good 4yr prospect. Actually was a better athlete than I thought he would be. Finished around the goal and ran the court well. Could be a nice big man down the road. Much better than some of the UofL big's I've seen in the past in the game. I've been going to this game for years, and I was more impressed with this crop of UofL kids than I've been for a while. Nothing too special about them, but all seemd to have a role and potential. I think Cat fans will be please with Orton and Hood too. They are of the same mold. Bledsoe would be a nice add, I'd probably pass on Dennis. Just my opinion.

I agree on Buckles, he seemed to be a good pick up for the Cards, I don't know his stats but it seemed as though he was scoring almost every other possession. I didn't get to see enough of Dennis to really get a read on him, it seemed like he played very sparingly.
