April 18, 200917 yr I got all the way down to the bottom and forgot what we was talking about because I kept looking at your avatar. Then I looked over at mine. :notworthy::notworthy:
April 18, 200917 yr Yes, I do. Cal can't beat Bruce Pearl, why should I even be worried about the "snake oil salesman". Fact is, I'm not the least bit worried about Cal and UK. Fact is, even if UK gets the All World team they are "entitled" to have next year, in the long term, Coach K would run circles around Cal just like every coach who is a "good" coach has done in the last 14 years of Calipari's career. Bring it on is what I say:taz: Has any of those 14 years been at the University of Kentucky, No. What he was able to accomplish at Umass and Memphis is pretty impressive. Being able to recruit some of the best players in the Country to come to those schools, where they may be on National T.V. one or two times, says alot. Cal has always been a great recruiter, the National exposure tool at UK he now has, will make him even better.

Now he has the big time program to go with it, watch out baby :ylsuper:

The current dUKe program is not the same as it was even 10 years ago.
April 18, 200917 yr I used to get upset when people brought up this shot, but really at the end of the day, who cares? It was one shot, years ago, and it was a good shot. Should he have been in the game? Who cares? He was in the game and he made the shot. Period. Give props to the guy and move on!

April 18, 200917 yr However Uk fans and fans in general do as well b/c ESPN seems to have this love affair for them that is just crazy. I don't hate Duke...
April 18, 200917 yr College Basketball--UK wins! Not hard to call a winner considering both bodies of work. College football, yeah. College basketball..too hard to call. Right now UK still doesn't have a point guard.
April 18, 200917 yr Has any of those 14 years been at the University of Kentucky, No. So you hope. He had the means and resources to recruit while at Memphis and UMass and he put his teams to win a lot of games, but again, he lost to Kansas in the championship and before that he lost to UK in the championship. Other than those 2 times, he has had good/great teams that lost when they shouldn't have, including this year. You hope that things get better for him, but it's too early to tell if his hire by UK is going translate into championships. The recruits that are looking at UK now have no idea about the history or tradition at UK so to think that he is going to get bigger and better recruits because he is at UK is not an actual fact. A better statement would be that you hope being at UK makes him better. We'll see if it does.

Now he has the big time program to go with it, watch out baby :ylsuper: Nope, people just act so funny on here when it comes to Duke basketball and no one ever seems to look at the big picture, they only look at last year, or the last 4 years when, IMO, that is not enough to go on. UK fans and Duke fans are so different and UK fans seem to act like Duke fans should think like them and go into the sky is falling down" mode because we haven't been to the final four since 2003. Trust me, Duke fans are way more worried about what Roy is doing down the street, not the speculative recruits Cal may or may not bring in. I can already see the thread that is labeled..."who is going to be the point guard" that has hundreds of posts if you guys don't land Wall or Bledsoe. I can hear the panic right now. Duke isn't worried about you guys and regardless of your recruits, if a series was started up next year, I have every reason to believe after 10 years, Duke would have the advantage in that series after 10 years, just like UNC. I ain't scared of you guys, and I never will be. I doubt the great Coach K is scared of you guys either. I may be seen as defensive because a lot of times, some UK fans just don't get it.
April 18, 200917 yr Coach K hasn't been running circles around anyone for awhile. This group of seniors passed through the sacred halls of dUKe without tasting the Final Four. The current dUKe program is not the same as it was even 10 years ago. When you go from 1992 to 2001, a lot of things that went on in those "non championship years" is similar to what has gone on from 2001 to present. All I can say to you is that watch out in 2010. Study the history of Duke basketball and maybe, just maybe you will understand what I am trying to say. And they are still tied with UNC for the most championships by any school since 1990 with 3.
April 18, 200917 yr So you hope. A better statement would be that you hope being at UK makes him better. We'll see if it does. What means and resources did he have at UMass? Memphis? Compared to UK, come on? The reason it's easier to recruit at UK versus the other two stops is not because of the history, it's because of the conference and exposure. You know that Purple. Duke's ability is not just about Coach K, it's about the ACC, North Carolina and TV/media exposure. Tradition for either is probably pretty far down on the ladder. As to Coach Cal's ability, his stretch at UMass sold me more than Memphis. UMass was nothing, nada; before his arrival. In '92 he had a nice team that was a bad technical from being in position to beating UK in the Sweet 16 and making the Elite Eight. In '95 he made the Elite Eight and faced '96 without one of the their leading scorers in Lou Roe who graduated but lost only 3 games. That '96 team had very little talent beyond Camby but they were TOUGH as nails. As to your earlier declaration about Coach K, he's an all-time great and anyone who doesn't know it is kidding themselves. However, the analogies of "versus Pearl, Cal is . . ." and "Coach K can coach around . . ." is really of no value. We don't know what UK can or will do under Cal. It's fun to have conjecture but that's all it is. BTW, K's record vs. Roy Williams isn't too good right now either but I'd never say that shows how Roy is that much better than K.
April 18, 200917 yr When did he lose to UK in the Championship? My bad, it was the final four wasn't it?
