Anyone still want to defend Billy G?

Featured Replies

I stated many many times that his longest tenure anywhere in his 30 year career was 3 years. I got blasted for saying this, now that everything is out in the open and everything I've been saying for a year has turned out to be 100% true, anyone still care to defend him?

Just curious.....

Are you sure you said that on here? Because I went back and couldn't find any post like this from you when BCG was hired and even in the months that followed. I did find this in the thread where he was hired.

But on topic, I think this is the best possible alternative for the kitty cats!

I'm not saying you aren't right. I just wouldn't call it a prophecy. Not on here any way.

I still think to this moment that Coach Gillispie was treated unfairly and should have been given at least another year or two to get everything running and to get his system and players implemented. His time was cut short and he was run out of town before he could even get to do that.

I do think Calipari is the better coach and I'm glad we have him now! I just think that Gillispie should have been been more time.

Again, I will say that BCG's time was cut short because of mostly, off the court issues. He was NOT the right person for Kentucky and giving him more time would of been worse and the Administration realized that, thus we are where we are.

You didn't look hard enough then b/c I just did a quick search and saw two different threads where I brought it up.
Then what's the point in saying anything at all?

Anyone who has read these threads for the past week or so and has any intuition at all knows that there was a lot going on that neither UK nor BCG has addressed. At this point, it's not anything new to say, "There is a whole lot more to this story..."

New would be to tell us the story...if you aren't going to do that, there's no need to re-state the obvious.

Ok good, now back to the topic.

Then show us ...

No. I'm not defending Billy G. I defended based solely on the assumption that everything was related to wins and losses.

Perhaps you can forgive us members of the population now known as "The Unsourced" for not knowing what went on behind the curtain of UK basketball...:idunno:

Had it been on just the wins and losses alone I would probably agree with you. However, imo it had to do with so much more as to the reason BCG is gone. I really don't think that BCG could have ever fit in at U.K., he refused to do the things expected as a coach and as an ambassador to the university which at U.K. the basketball coach is. BCG had no idea what he was getting into. I also have to believe that MB didn't do enough reasearch on him before hiring.

I believe that all has not come out on some things that went on and may or may not be revealed sometime later. I am not one that has all of these claims of "super sources" and don't claim to be.....just that things do have a way of coming out though.

All of that is in the past now, we have a very good basketball coach at U.K. and I hope that it works out and all expectations (well, at least the realistic ones and not the ones from "those" fans) are met and beyond.

Welcome Coach John Calapari and GO BIG BLUE!!!

As several have rebuted my post. I guess that I am more of a black and white person than most. I have found, over the years, dealing with Coaches, adminsitrators, and parents, that there is always more to what they say than is said. Most all complaints come from a lack of success in the competition. Winning cures most everything.

I have a lot of contacts that tell me stuff all the time. I NEVER regurgitate that information on a message board or to freinds because I will not forsake the trust of my contacts/friends to validate my ego and try to impress people with my insight. I think that it is counter productive.

My contacts have given me information that turned out to be false, just as I have been give information that turns out to be true. But because someones friend works with the aunt of the mother of a player and she said.... should be meaningless. But it gets spewed out like gospel.

Where are all of the apologies for all of the miss-information that went on the las few days. Some people were have coranary attacks due to miss-information. I have thrown up to each person that I know that told me as fact that someone else would be coach the fact that their contacts were not real contacts.

I just think that information is powerful. Mis-Using that power is wrong. I do not WANT to know everything that goes on behind the scenes. I want my team to win. I wnat my team to play with in the rules. If either of those things do not happen, I wnat my information to be accurate, not garunteed then find something completely different.

I just find it funny how much some peoples lives revolve around their team. Not just UK. It goes on everywhere. 911 taught me a valuble lesson about what is important and what is not. It taught me what was catostrophic and what was not.

Athletics, at any level....is entertainment.

Nope.

Then let it go.

98 is right on there being way more to the story.

It's also best for everyone involved if it is kept quiet and not made public knowledge.

Whatever. :isurrender:
