Is It Too Early

Featured Replies

It's very true that the ideal situation might not, and probably won't happen. But let is UK fans have some excitement. It's been a long season lol.

Exactly..we went to the "NIT". I usually reccommend Lindane or Nix for that.:D

Not too many NIT teams though get the biggest hire around for the last couple of years or so.

Let's See:

Patrick Patterson-5 Star Recruit, #12 Overall Recruit in 2007.

Jodie Meeks-4 Star Recruit, #9 Rated Shooting Guard in 2006.

Darius Miller-4 Star Recruit, #38 Overall Recruit in 2008.

Daniel Orton-5 Star Recruit, #12 Overall Recruit in 2009.

Jon Hood-4 Star Recruit, #36 Overall Recruit in 2009.

And supposing the Big 3 from Memphis comes:

Xavier Henry-5 Star Recruit, #1 Overall Recruit in 2009.

John Wall-5 Star Recruit, #5 Overall Recruit in 2009.

DeMarcus Cousins-5 Star Recruit, #3 Overall Recruit in 2009.

That is 5, 5 Star recruits and 3 4 Star recruits in our top 8. And the thing you have to realize with kids like Henry, Wall and Cousins, these kids are probably going to the NBA if there isn't an age restriction. That's at least 4 future NBA Draft picks on one team. That's the kind of roster that wins National Championships, maybe not if they are freshmen, but they are definitely in the discussion. It's not that big of a stretch.

Those states are "video game" sick.

This is why I love UK fans....you all never cease to amaze me.

Don't mind him. He's just upset that Duke has put an entire class of seniors through school that have never played in a Final Four and they really aren't a threat to appear there for awhile.

Just a hunch....UK vs. UofL on CBS Next year...with ESPN College Basketball Gameday live from Rupp Arena!!!

That is very impressive. But, walk me through the steps of having 5 scholarships available this year.

To say some of the swagger and fun is back within the program?

When was the last time we were really this EXCITED?I'm not expecting a NC next year, it's just good to know that we could be scary to teams again. The last few years, even mid-majors knew that a trip to Rupp was not an automatic L.

It will be nice to see Rupp rocking some again!:thumb:

Almost two years ago to the day!!!

I don't think it's even close. This level is more what Donovan would have generated back then.

Don't think they could keep enough people happy to hold onto them all if they even got them.

I also STRONGLY don't agree that BBN was this excited 2 years ago.

We had missed the guy we REALLY wanted and got our 2nd choice.

We did think he was better than the one who had just left, but I still don't think people were as excited as if BD had walked in the door, and nowhere NEAR as excited as they are right now.

It has been MANY years since the fans have been this excited.

That is very impressive. But, walk me through the steps of having 5 scholarships available this year.

Well....

Rumor has Porter either leaving to raise a family, or getting on some sort of non-athletic scholarship. Wouldn't financial aid be possible?

Rumors of Harrellson and Liggins transferring. Also heard Pilgrim and Liggins may be ineligible as well.

Many have speculated that Harris may not be back due to health reasons, or that if he is he will have financial packages for him where he has health reason. I had never heard of that though.

There are 5 scholarships. Also, Cal will have individual talks with each player I'm sure. If a player doesn't fit his system or doesn't figure to earn many minutes, he will probably advise them to consider leaving. Many people have a problem with this, but it is common place.

New coaches always lead to transfers and players leaving teams. This will most likely be no different.

Don't think they could keep enough people happy to hold onto them all if they even got them.

Henry would be the only wild card in that equation. He and Meeks would compete for shots on the wing, no doubt. Patterson, Cousins, and Orton may be a problem, but I don't think it will be. Patterson and Cousins would start, but I'd be surprised if either was still at UK after next season (NBA). So Orton would be the first big off the bench, still getting very good minutes. He most likely isn't a one and done, and will need a few seasons of seasoning, especially having missed most of this year. If he has no problem with it, and his dad has kinda said that, I don't see why we should.

Wall has no competition here. He would start from day one and play as much as he wanted. If this team were to be put together, his stock would go through the roof for the NBA, because his assist stats would be out of this galaxy.

Miller is a very good player, but as a soph he would be a role player no matter who was here. With Coach Cal he may turn into a star by his senior year, but not next year. He has always been a team player and would be happy, IMO.

Hood is the same thing, and would benefit. Being the KY Mr. BBall leads to plenty of pressure while you play at UK, a roster like this would ease him into the college game.

If this were the roster I would say....

Henry- primary option.

Meeks- spot up, 2nd option on the wing. I now you guys will kill this, but Henry is a potential top 5 pick, Meeks probably isn't.

Cousin- primary post option.

Patterson- clean up man, let him improve on what he will be in the NBA. A brute rebounder capable of putting in some points.

Wall- Let him break down his defender and get the ball to someone for some points, ala Derrick Rose.

Orton- in very quick off the bench. 3 headed monster in the post would wear down any team.

Hood, Miller....others- let them establish their roles, and let them do their jobs.

That isn't an unbeatable roster (lack of experience, 3 pt. shooters), but it would be the best I have felt about a UK team in a long time. That team would make the NCAA tournament, no doubt.

That is very impressive. But, walk me through the steps of having 5 scholarships available this year.

Then we see some of the boys on scholarship become very academically profound. I think that they will make the accommodations to get these boys in here if they want to come; especially after the strings they pulled to get Calipari. Kentucky needed a CEO and they got the Warren Buffet of the financial world. You have to get excited about this because the fit is so perfect and is definitely an up grade from what we have been accustomed to in recent years. I remember myself as a young boy watching the Cats play during their success in the 90’s and it feels so good to be able to see my son grow up watching what maybe will be the old flame that fans from the past and present all used to know. :jump::laugh:

Almost two years ago to the day!!!

There was some excitement but nowhere near this level. If UK opted to have a Pep Rally today it would have to be at Rupp. I miss work for nothing other than kids games or planned vacations. Today I was prepared to leave work to attend. I think that speaks for alot of people.

So did I read that right, Billy Clyde recruited two 5 - star recruits and two 4 - star recruits to go with tubby's 4 - star recruit. And we ran him out? JC CANNOT call anything at KY rebuilding, if any of his recruits follow him, its just re-loading.

I never actually looked at how well BCG recruited. Pretty impressive. Sorry you were not given a chance to see what you could do with all those "stars".
