Commitments to UK

My point is that your angle is purely speculation. Does it seem fishy? Sure. I'm telling you from first hand information, that's what happened. That's the truth, no one else has to accept it.

I don't think that AAU nor Scott Co. had the power to shut the doors at an engineering firm in Ashland, KY.

I don't deny the sequence of events. From some other things I've been told, I simply think the move was in the works before the job situation became a factor.

Dad lost job - fact. Had to relocate and Lex. was best offer - fact. Went to Scott Co. because they have a great program close to the college that his son had committed to - fact. Where is the hangup here? What partyline reply? Move wasn't initially basketball motivated. Selection of school was. Again, what is getting lost here? There's no insult to anyone's intelligence if everyone will use theirs.

From the dad's mouth, he told me face to face that they would have stayed if he'd have been able to stay in Ashland with his job. As far as sequence of events, there was no secret that his firm was "closing" for some time, however, there was a chance it would have remained open. As for the AAU connection, who was the first to enroll? Who followed? If there was anything fishy, perhaps we should be more scrutinizing of those who followed. But that won't happen, because none of those have committed to the state university.

Bottom line ... it doesn't really matter. The players are there and are eligible, as they should be since they all moved there.

As for how it all occurred, I have my opinion and you have yours.

Let the new coach evaulate these verbals first and see what happens. It is to early to assume that all will be dropped or all will come. Some probably will be offered and some probably will not. If any fit the new coach's style then keep them. It will be a nice touch to keep some Kentuckians on the roster if possible and with Zollo's upside he probably has the best shot.

When SC played Homes at NKU Euton looked like he was playing hurt, if not he could not start at NKU.

When you verbally commit as a freshman and make a controversial move to such a high-profile school, some of that simply comes with the territory.

Ultimately, his performance allows him to answer his critics.

And he might give up 25. From what I've seen of Euton in limited opportunities, I would take that chance if I was Kentucky's new coach.

The point I and several more have been trying to make is its not right to be talking so bad about a high school kid who would do what any other Ky kid who likes UK would do. Just because he transfers high schools does not make it all of a sudden okay to bash a high school kid, especially considering the fact that 1 of the reasons for the move is his father losing his job.

Zollo is the only underclassmen here that has already verballed that will end up at UK, IMO.

Euton is a good high school player and an absolute work horse, but he isn't athletic enough to play in the SEC. The game against Holmes, when Pittman absolutely dominated him, proved this. Pittman is one hell of a player and has the potential/ability to play anywhere in the country, but Euton will see kids, bigger, stronger, and more talented than Elijah in the SEC. Euton benefits a lot from having smaller kids defend him. With Phares gone next year and teams able to use their big man on Euton, I think a lot of his weaknesses will be exposed.

Solid high school player, but mid major talent, at best. As a UK fan, I honestly can sit here and say that a Dakotah Euton isn't going to put us back on the map as a national power. Hate to be so critical of him because he is a great kid off the court, but just stating facts.

Orton, Avery and Hood are all signed to letters and will be at UK. All other Gillispie recruits are verbals so it remains to be seen if they end up at UK.

Avery has not signed LOI to Kentucky, he is far too young. Orton,Hood and Vilarino have all signed, while Konner Tucker has committed. All can still get out of their signings with a waiver, but I imagine they will meet with the new head coach. The new head coach will re-evaluate the verbals Gillispie received and make a decision based on that. Good luck to all of these young kids as it is a tough time in their lives.

Man, the unrelentless slams on Euton are uncalled for, in my opinion. I can't believe how much grief a 17 year old young man is getting, only for doing what he has probably dreamed of most of his life.

I guess he could go to the Univeristy of Tennessee and put up 20+ points on UK for four years. That sounds familiar. In fact, I now am rooting for that to happen. That would serve the UK faithful right.

I'll take my chances. UT can have him. He is far to slow for D1 ball. That's the reason it is being repeated over and over by many different BGP'ers. Many have seen him play and have the same opinion. No one is trying to be mean to him, just stating the obvious. He might be a good candidate for Georgetown College if he stays in Scott Co.

I was under the impression if you have signed LOI or not, and committed to a program who fired there coach prior to you attending that university, you can be let out of your committment. That was the big thing with Michael Beasley a while back. Kansas State didn't release him and didn't have to grant him a waiver because they did not fire Huggins, Hugs left on his own, but if Hugs would have been fired they would have had to release Beasley from his committment.

At least that is how I thought it went down.

A school does not have to let you out of the LOI even if they fired the coach. Many will though.

KSU would not have had to release Beasley had Huggs been fired.

The one Kentucky kid I hope the new coach takes a long look @ is Ricardo Johnson from Holmes. I think he should be the favorite next season for Mr. Basketball. I did not realize how good this kid was on both ends of the court until the Sweet 16. He has great range, handles, and can defend in the SEC.

I have seen him play and I agree.
