All this fuss over who the next coach is at UK is crazy. Just two years ago everyone was excited about this guy from Texas. He is a great recruiter. He plays a fast pace. He lives and breathes the game. He will bring us back to a place we loved the 90’s!!!!

 

Now two years later everyone is ticked off at him for being in the NIT. But the say it isn’t the NIT that has us upset, it’s the way he acts. We don’t like the way he treats the MEDIA. We don’t like the way he treats the callers on the call in show.

 

I for one think he is a JERK. But he isn’t someone that I would hang out with. That doesn't mean he should be fired.

 

He was hired at UK for one reason and one reason only, to WIN Championships. Not to play nice to the media and not to put up with folks calling in making suggestions on what he needs to be doing as the coach. Tell me what contract would you want a UK coach to sign?

 

Contract 1

Win a national Championship every 4 years.

 

Win a SEC Championship every year.

 

Recruit the best players that are also quality kids in the class room.

 

Don’t get arrested and humiliate the University.

 

Contract 2

Don’t be a jerk to the media

 

Treat the fans that call in with soft gloves

 

Never go to the NIT tourney.

Winning solves all the problems. I have to agree with Billy Clyde. It isn’t his job to be friendly and have people like him. His job is Basketball Coach not University President.

You are right about his job is to Coach. However, you said it's not his job to be the University President and you are right about that as well, but when your University President has had it with your antics and that's what I'm hearing, then there must be a part of the job you didn't do right.

Don't practice hard on game days, and play a zone when up by one with 3 seconds to go. How many games has he lost due to the end of games. How many games have they been blown out this year? They get tired, they are humans.

I just being stubborn here and just picking on one little thing.. However I don't remember people saying he played a fast pace. Or the people who did obviously didn't know much about him, because he never has played a fast pace.

Kentucky has 7 national titles in over 100 years of basketball (1 every 14+ years). One every 4 years is unreasonable. 1 every 8-10 years is better than the history of the university, so I would take that.

 

Winning the SEC every year is unreasonable. UK didn't do that before. But to win the SEC more often than not is reasonable.

 

I think he should be given one more year, but will cheer for the Cats regardless of who is coaching them. If it is BCG, great. If it isn't, that's fine as well. But I do think 1 more year is in order unless there is more behind the scenes than we know about.

His record in close games is not good, I agree. One thing that I always felt comfortable with Tubby on was at the end of a game, that UK would have a shot to win it (moreso than Pitino who either won by a bunch or lost by a bunch due to his style). Tubby's guys seemed to be able to make the play that needed to be made.

Pitino was 17-1 in SEC tournament games. I think the statement in the paper last week hurt him as much as anything. When your boss who gave you a 2.3 million dollar a year job says what your job description is, at least publicly you should agree with it. Heck if they were paying me that much and said go over and kiss that man's butt my only question would be which cheek.
