LRCW Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Finally! We have hard evidence resolving the Billy Gillispie situation! That’s right, folks, the mystery has finally been solved. Everyone had their sources or just knew that you had to be wrong even though they had no proof, but it turns out that it was right there in front of our nose the whole time. Billy Gillispie is leaving and he doesn’t even care to hide it anymore. In fact, it’s pretty terrible that a slick detective such as yourself didn’t see it coming from a mile away. Take a look at this quote from yesterday’s press conference: “I think it will really pay dividends. I think next year’s team, I think it’s unlimited what they can win. So you think he's back next year, and Mitch Barnhart is just keeping silent about all of this to annoy the fans, and the new recruits parents?

That silence seems to be the biggest sign. Orton's dad called Mitch and has yet to get a return call. Hood's dad said Mitch could end all of this speculation with a few words yet hasn't.

I'm ignorant of the UK coaching rumors that are swirling these days. However, I suspect BCG not being at UK next season doesn't automatically mean Mitch Barnhardt pulled the plug. It's possible that some or all of the responsibility will be on Gillispie. I'm content to wait and see how it plays out. If BCG is gone, I hope he doesn't get fired. I hate to see UK go down that road.

It's one thing to stay quite about it to the fans, but when you aren't returning phone calls to recruits families, that means something is up. If Gillispie does come back next year, and I'm confident he won't be, Barnhart needs to be held accountable for the fiasco he unnecessarily created IMO. Now if they win the NIT or something like that, and Gillispie returns, that's a different story, but other than that I don't see how Mitch survives this if he's back.
